It was nice meeting everyone out there! GJ on that 2.08 Matt, those RT-615s were already chewed up so that was quite a feat. Thanks for the ride along and lines Erik. Hope to see you guys out there soon.

Frank cleared the room.... I didn't feel like walkin outside to sleep in my stiff car seat so I decided on the tub. Frank snores like a man-bear-pig.. if you can imagine that.

Just go to any motorcycle shop and try on any SNELL approved helmet. You can also go to Super Autobacs to check out their helmets selection

Robert...when you're fitting your helmet it needs to be VERY VERY snug. At first I thought I was a medium, but I turned out to be a small.

There are a few auto-x coming up. 1/31 @ autoclub speedway. Feb 28 @ El Toro. April 4 @ El Toro.

Those are with SCCA solo2. I'll most likely be at Feb 28 (pending getting my car back in time). There's also auto-x in San Diego with either BMWCCA (they're a lot of fun) and the Porsche Club of America (haven't tried them). Let me know if you need more info.

yeah send me more info, would love to check them out.

Robert,

I've been going to a lot less auto-x's and more track events... I feel that for the money, you get more seat time.Â* Seat time is the most important as the saying goes "practice makes perfect."Â* I'll try to hit up a streets of willow event next month... if time and money permits.

As for helmets and trying stuff on try:

http://www.subesports.com (located in Huntington beach)
http://www.werks2.com/ (Burbank area? never been in person)
http://www.cardinimotorsport.com (Hollywood, heard good things, never been)

I'd tell you to go to www.extremesupply.com but then you'd end up getting the same helmet as me and everyone else that I referred them to.

I went to Autobacs the other day... they have a fulmer helmet sa2005 certified for only $140.... i was like... Holy shit... thats a killer price for auto racing helmet.

Should be good for a begginer.. once you get more into the sport i would definetly consider getting a higher quality helmet like Bell or Simpson or HJC etc...

Thanks guys, going helmet shopping this weekend.

Kevin,

Which event @ streets are looking to go to?

tanK
01-27-2009, 01:00 PM
No idea which event yet.... preferably a weekend event. One thing to look for in a helmet is visibility. I like my helmet b/c it looks cool, but it doesn't offer the greatest visibility on track. Pyrotect helmets can be had for under $100, open or closed face.

Matt,

I think Robert got to keep it as part of the rental fee.. pretty cool of SV if you ask me.

Jon's sti broke some steering arm on his car going through cotton corners. His car got towed back on Sunday to his parents house. He told me he'll fix it... he had to rebuild his rear KW coilover too haha.

o-townFLA
01-27-2009, 04:50 PM
that is pretty cool of SV.

Jon said is coilover was done before he hit the track and that this was the second time his steering arm broke on him. I just didnt know If he called up the company that made the arms and had them resolve the issue/problem...

tanK
01-27-2009, 04:54 PM
Yeah I knew about his rear shock... I've been waiting for him to get it off for the past few months so I can send it in for him.

Anyone have more pics?

I know Robert and Zach took a shitload...
