I posted this over on EvoM it is a less than thirty dolalr way to measure ethanol content and the best part is .... It is reusable and has no moving or electrical parts to breakÂ* :grin:

Thanks for the replies these can be had at several locations on the "intardnet" and are priced under $30.00 (wow I'm redundant)Â* I'm waiting for a second sample and this other one is supposed to have a sticker designed for e85 testing.Â* As stated in the other post you simply measure from the water line to where the color changes and each 1/4 inch is 10%Â* content and each 1/8 inch is 5% content.

where do you pour the environmentally friendly milkshake you just created to dispose of it safely/properly?

I sneak it in with the oil I recycle. They get gas and all kinds of other chemicals and I strongly assume they know how to deal with it.

And im pretty sure some local fire departments dispose of old gasoline.

I spent more time thinking about this and with only 15% gas it is way less than an ounce of actual gas. The ethanol not unlike rubbing alcohol evaporates with no real ill effects. The milky substance is the gas and water mixed. Why don't we consider the smaller carbon footprint of ethanol burning in general especially when compared to Race gas :twisted:

PS if we were all so environmentally conscious maybe we would be driving a Toyota Prius and get new hobbies . I'm done
