First please understand that I have NO HIRING AUTHORITY and that I'm justÂ*passing on good scoop.Â* I do know that the base I work on (Marine Corps Logistics Base in Barstow, CA) is looking to fill many positions.Â* I am a supervisor in a calibrations facility aboard base so I'm not in the main industrial building but I can tell you about most everything they do over there.Â* They basically completely tear down and rebuild military vehicles:Â* LAV (Land Assault Vehicles), AAV (Amphibious Assault Vehicles), Hummers, M1 Tanks, and some other stuff.Â*

They are in real need of experienced people with skills in: turbo diesel engines, transmissions, mechanics, welding, machining, and other related skills.Â* The base is also looking to hire administrative positions.Â* So if you're looking for a job or a career in the federal government let me know.Â* The pay is really good and so are the bennies.Â* Prior service really helps you get your foot in the door as well with Veteran's preference.Â* Â*

You can also use this site to look at career opportunities aboard Marine Corps and Navy bases all over the world.Â*

There are no limits or bounds to a civilian career in the Department of the Navy.Â* All the tools you need to search for jobs, build a resume, apply online, and see the status of your resume are at your fingertips, accessible and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Â* Just click on Getting Started for a brief overview of the entire process, read our No Limits brochure for more details, or select Jobs, Jobs, Jobs to start your journey.

APPLYING FOR A DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY CIVILIAN CAREER IS EASY ...

STEP 1:Â* CREATE AN ACCOUNT AND LOGIN

The first step in applying for a job is to create an account and login. Go to Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, and select Create Account. Fill in all the required fields and click the "Create" button. An account will be created and your information will be e-mailed to you. Don't forget to keep your password information for future use.

Did you Forgot your Password? Then click on the red forgot password link located in the upper right hand corner of the login box. Through this process you can either retrieve your password hint or reset your password.

For more information on this process and its features, review the Quick Tips located under Create Account and My Account and check out the Creating an Account FAQs and Password FAQs.

STEP 2:Â* CREATE YOUR RESUME

To be considered for a position, you must apply to a specific job opportunity announcement using a resume. We are unable to accept unsolicited applications at this time.

You can create a resume on-line using My Resume, our new and improved on-line resume builder. Block-by-block, My Resume will prompt you to enter all the necessary information you need. There are even helpful hints on creating a resume in the How to Prepare a Resume information as well as a Sample Resume to review.

Although on-line submission of your resume using My Resume is the preferred method, you may submit a Hardcopy Resume. However, before submitting your Hardcopy Resume, please take the time to read the Top 10 Reasons to use My Resume.

For more information on this process and its features, review the Quick Tips located under My Resume and check out the Creating a Resume FAQs.

Once you have created and saved your resume under My Resume, you are ready to submit it to a specific job opportunity announcement using Search for Jobs.

STEP 3:Â* CONDUCT A JOB SEARCH

To receive consideration for a position, you must search and apply to one of the job opportunity announcements listed under Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Search for Jobs. You can search for jobs by position title or series; city, state or country; or salary.

For most of the job opportunity announcements, you must meet one of the Common Hiring Categories to apply. To help guide you to those announcements for which you are eligible to apply, you will be asked eligibility questions either at the time you perform your search or when you create your account. In addition, you will want to review the Who May Apply section of the announcement to make certain that you meet the eligibility requirements listed.

No time to search yourself? No problem! Set up job search agents using My Searches.

For more information on this process and its features, review the Quick Tips located under Search for Jobs and the Search for Jobs FAQs.

STEP 4:Â* SUBMIT YOUR RESUME USING APPLY NOW

Ready to submit your resume to a job opportunity announcement? Then simply use the Apply Now button located at the top or bottom of each announcement. Upon clicking this button you will be provided further instructions. Follow these instructions to apply. Your resume will be submitted immediately and directly to the Center that posted the announcement and a copy of what you submitted will be sent to your e-mail account and My Notices.

Already have a resume on file at a Human Resources Service Center? Then Re-Use your Resume to apply to other job opportunity announcements issued by that Center. Our Apply Now process will take you through this process.

If you would like additional information on how to apply, check out the How Do I Apply FAQs.

STEP 5:Â* TRACK YOUR RESUME ACTIVITY

If you currently work for the federal government, are a veteran or meet one of the other Common Hiring Categories, and you applied to an announcement that included these hiring categories, then you can track the progress of your resume on-line.

With My Status, you can check the status of your resume to see if you are being actively considered for a position and extend your resume. Forgotten which jobs and which Human Resources Service Center you've applied to? With My Job Interests, you can view where you have submitted a resume, when that resume was received, the jobs you have applied to and the geographic locations you have selected.

Still have more questions? Review the Quick Tips located under My Status and My Job Interests or check out the I've Applied, Now What FAQs.

Good luck and thank you for your interest in the Department of the Navy civilian employment!

The link should be working. I'll try and keep you guys up-to-date as they start hiring more people. I would go ahead and get an account started on the Navy Charts website. Make sure you put any military time in because it helps get you veteran's preference.

Several jobs currently listed on the Navy website to work aboard MCLB Barstow. These are open to all US citizens so you don't have to be a current Federal employee to qualify. "DE" at the end of the announcement means that it's open to all US citizens. And as always, prior military service helps a lot!

I'm going to check some of these out. Thanks for posting them up :]

Not having prior military is not a show stopper. You can still qualify for the "DE" jobs that are open to all US citizens. It's cheap to live up here in Barstow man and the best thing is.....the cops don't have time to be messing with our cars....there's to many meth labs to bust lol.

^lmfao!

I'm still going to remain hopeful and just see if I can get some luck up there. Don't these jobs take a long time to process? I just want to move back up to my home in Adelanto lol... Paying all that money and not living up there = ftl.

CICreations
04-22-2009, 11:45 AM
It can take a month or so for everything to get finalized. Adelanto would put you at around 45mins to an hour commute each way. I know several people that make that commute every day. What is your skill set? What field have you worked in?
