Disconnect the negative for a minute and then reconnect it. The RPMs will hit 2,000 then drop when you start the car

did you find out first what was the problem?

You should find out what code it is. If you went catless you need a fouler or have a tuner turn it off or it'll just keep coming back :O. and if you leave it on without a fouler for too long i believe your o2 sensor may get fried!

funny stuff. but seriously, as many said, find out the codes of what's causin' the SES light and address the problem as needed. i just experienced the same thing a month ago and now, everything's fine already. goodluck on yours

if you don't know any one has the ODB-II scanner then stop by HB or SC Mitsu and ask them to scan it for you and tell us what is the code. But to answer your question, to turn it off you can use a scanner as mentioned above or software like EvoScan or ScanTech can also turn it off with the Tactrix cable.

I think you can borrow the scanner at AutoZone to do it.

^ Autozone doesn't let you borrow the tool to do it anymore

Yea, they stopped doing that.
If you have a tactrix cable, just download scantech on aktivematrix.com. It scans and clear codes fine. And it's free, you just have to register.

I wouldn't ignore it. Check what error code its throwing, cause it can be something critical. Find someone with an OBDII reader or something similar, to check it out. I have one, but way over in the OC.

Did you install an exhaust recently and put in a test pipe? That will do it... And you can fix that by getting a little extension tube to screw on in between your pipe and o2... It pulls the o2 sensor out of the exhaust stream just enough to keep it from throwing a code. SBR and RRE sell them.

ok...so i got the light check and it turns out that i have low catallyc efficiency...whatever that means...i do have intercooler piping and 3 in. exhaust piping...do you think this may be the cause.

If its the PO420 you will need something like this

http://www.gruppe-s.com/Evo/evoex/05CELFIX.jpg

I used one of these on my rear O2 sensor and never got the code again

osolokes213
04-30-2009, 05:34 PM

Evokid

You could buy it on line. Look up Cel fix for the evo. Few $ and your problems solved

osolokes213
04-30-2009, 07:54 PM
ok...so that connects to the O2 sensor then i'll just have to clear the code???...how about these guys tellin me my cat is bad???

pjb00stin
05-01-2009, 09:40 AM
are you running the stock cat?If you are, just replace it with the test pipe. cheap mod and you will feel the gains. The CEL fix you can pick up from kragen/vatozone for about $5..Its listed as a sparkplug spacer. All it does is move your rear o2 out farther

i know u were joking..lol...its just that i've been worryin about this thing for a long while now...its giving me a headache...

Evokid
05-01-2009, 07:44 PM
It has to be big enough to screw in the sensor in it. last time i went they didn't have the big one so I had to buy 2 small one's and drill one of them out so the sensor would clear the first one.

Evokid
05-01-2009, 07:46 PM
oh as far as thread pitch I dont remember

pjb00stin
05-01-2009, 07:48 PM
i believe the part number is 42008 in the 'help!' section at your local kragen/autozone etc. it comes in a pack of two.you have to drill one of the holes with a 1/2 inch bit. that adapter you screw the o2 sensor in. then you screw that adapter into the other adapter, which screws into your exhaust.

hope that made sense.

osolokes213
05-01-2009, 07:51 PM
ok now its even clearer...i went to an autozone earlier and they said they didnt have it...now i have to go look for it in another place...thanks to all...if i have more questions i'll post them...lol...
