I went to a safety inspection today and failed because I dont have any bumper support pads.Â* CAn this be installed if my car has an evo 9 bumper? I have an ets 3.5 inch intercooler and there isn't much room behind the bumper....Â* Do I have to go back to a 8 bumper just for the foam pads?Â* Â* >:(

i dont think so
from what i remember its behind the front bumper right below the head lights,
its jus a black styrofoam piece on both side

there are 2 foam supports on either side of the crash beam. its not visible from the outside, the only way you can see it is if you remove the bumper and pull the pads out from it.

it should make no difference if there in there or not. you can step on them and smash them so i dont think they provide support.

Its called an absorber. The first absorbers used on cars were actual shocks, but now most manufacturers use only the foam. Essentially they help on those 3-5mph taps and help save the rebar(crash beam/reinforcement) from minor bends.

Its a cheap insurance for a more expensive part
