View Full Version : Wheel spacers?

AMJevoXmR

Do you guys recommend a spacer for the stock MR wheels? If so what size do you think would look nice? I only plan on using the spacers for daily driving, but when I hit the track up they will be coming off, and hopefully by the time I do hit up the track I will have other wheels and tires. Thanks in advance. O0

So that the wheels flush better with the fenders.

you might need to use longer studs.

a 5mm spacer will work no problem.
Any bigger and you will need longer studs..

For 15mm and longer use these:

Your EVO X MR wheels are 38mm offset. Your X has tons of room. People can stuff 20mm offset wheels without any fender mods... So its pretty safe to say that you can put a 15mm spacer for an effective 23mm and have a nice flush look.

Don't let people tell you spacers are dangerous. I've seen up to 3" spacers being used, in the Porsche world, and that's not uncommon!

Yes you can test fit them.

I dont think it will appreciably effect the balance of the car. There are much better ways to make or reduce understeer.

I am using 20mm Ichiba spacers. They come with extended wheel studs, which I am still on my stock GSR rims. I'm lowered on Eibach pro kits, I don't think there is any rubbing, and they are quite flush. Not completely, you may need 25mm, but I did 20mm just to be safe for DD. I may buy new rims in the future, and if the offset isn't aggressive enough as I want them to be, I'll trade someone my 20s for something more suitable, like maybe 5 or 10mm.
Good luck with your buy! I love mine.

^Khiem hooked me up with the spacers, muuch thanks!

I don't know about 25mm, I read on a thread on evoxforums that it's pushing it a little, but I don't know.
I guess it'd be fine for DD, but I'd take them off for tracking.
As long as their torqued correctly, should be fine.

nick198867
10-18-2009, 03:43 PM
i think 20mm in the front is perfect....and if i do 25mm in the rear, then might need to roll the fender....

I guess..I'm just saying with 25mms I'd be a little paranoid. I'm already paranoid with 20mm. That's just me.
You're right though, you should be fine if you torque them correctly. I know people who run spacers only in the front when they track and they're fine.

Fill the back seat and trunk with fat girls, bags of sand and anything else you can get your hands on that is heavy. Then with it all slammed down in the back see if you have 3/4" of space between the tire sidewall and the fender lip. I am thinking you might need to roll the rear a bit to keep things from touching at full bump.

I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to wheels and tire mods, but was wondering if you add 15mm spacers to 38mm offset stock wheels, isnt the effective offset 38mm+15mm = 53mm?

Your EVO X MR wheels are 38mm offset. Your X has tons of room. People can stuff 20mm offset wheels without any fender mods... So its pretty safe to say that you can put a 15mm spacer for an effective 23mm and have a nice flush look.

You measure offest from the center line of the wheel.Â*

Here's a visual.Â* Just imagine putting a spacer in the positive offset area.Â* With the spacer, you're closer to the center, hence, a lower offset.

how many times do you need to check the torque for spacers? Please

Mike W
11-23-2012, 03:00 PM
I'd take off the wheels and check the spacer torque after a week or so of driving. Or before a track day. If nothing moved or changed since the last torque I'd not stress it after that. But if things somehow moved then I'd check it again until it stabilized.
