Hi everyone.
I just took ownership of a brand new Evo X and plan to make some modifications on it sometime this summer once I get a job.
First mod my friends seem to be telling me to get the most is a new intake.
Any suggestions on which is the best aftermarket intake for the Evo X right now? Such as best HP and torque gain? and which keeps my engine the coolest?
SRI or CAI is fine, doesn't have be a specific one, I'm kind of a newb.
Thanks ahead of time.

honestly, I would go with a drop in filter as a first mod.

Yeah I was looking on some website before I posted this thread and that seems like a good idea and much cheaper. I think I'll do that first, any recommendations on a good drop-in?

drop in, k&n will do just fine (if you want spend a little more ralliart)
if you are gonna do an intake, go with aem

there are plenty of proven intakes.... AEM, AMS, AGP, Agency Power, Cobb.... you name it. i find there are a lot of mixed emotions when it comes to intakes. some say that a drop in filter is best. some swear by the full blow machined suction pipe and MAF housing.

i personally love my AGP cold air. great power, the colder air makes a night and day difference. I came off using a AMS short ram.

the evo x runs pig rich from the factory, so my any intake leans it out some.

just my .02

I witnessed the Cosworth make 10 whp more than the HKS,
Ecu reset before each pull, same AFR, Hence why we stock Cosworth parts

The aem is nice for carb but skews the maf quite a bit and requires a good bit of tuning
I have the Cobb which will soon be released with a Box and Carb Number too!!

They all work if they can provide nice fresh air!

So the current Cobb model is being updated to include a boxed option with CARB stocker? ETA?

Cobb no longer makes hard parts. The "cobb" intake that is CARB approved with a Box will be available through HB Speed very shortly
