Hello guys,

im looking into buying another clutch because mine is going to wear fast after my tune
& was thinking of buying the exedy stage 2 clutch kit.
just wanted to see if anyone has tried this clutch out
(did you like it, would you recommend another one, etc).

I Daily drive my evo
I dont launch but i drive hard sometimes when i need to
something that will hold around 375WHP and last for a while

Any recommendations ?

thanksÂ* O0Â* :mitsu: :mitsu: :mitsu:

ACT 2900 (HDSS) with the organic sprung hub disc would be perfect for you. It is not a heavy pedal and drive like stock. It will hold the power you are after and more.

Exedy pressure plates have these buttons built into them that touch down and actually make the clutch slip sooner. If you ever actually look at how they work you would swear they did it just to sell more clutches. That is why when an Exedy or stock clutch goes, it just goes fast. Once the disc gets past a point the clamp load is gone. I'll try to get a picture of what I am talking about.

Exedy was the better clutch on my car.. Tricky clutch if your not experiencedÂ*
probably overkill for your car.. :knuppel2:

how do you feel about act hdss 6 puck sprung kit??

Robdog

I didn't enjoy it the same.. That's all

The Exedy kind of does it all for you... If you ride it, you'll Kill it fast a con..

The ACT is like a normal clutch with a stiffer spring in it and a higher engagement point...

The Exedy feels like stepping into a bucket of quick-dry cement BTW

I like the ACT 3200 with street disc, but everyone has different things they look for in any part, including a clutch

ACT 3200 clutch with the street disc is the way to go. If you had a lot of power then I would go with exedy hd twin disc or quartermasters twin plate

Act 3200lb with a street disc.

seen plenty of people run way more then 450whp on them over and over with no issues. i had 435whp/383wtq and it was never an issue.

its been in the car for almost 30k now and still holding up like day 1. O0

An ACT 3200 is overkill for his stated purpose of 375hp and no launching. You will have a heavy pedal for no reason. If you will be going north of 375 hp and will be launching it, then a 3200 would be in order.

He does have a point. 2900 ACT with a street disc and ACT flywheel would probably be perfect for you O0

Exedy does this to make their single disc clutches slip earlier:

ACT gets rid of that silly ish:

I have over 26,000 miles on my exedy twin hd with no problems at all. This also my daily driver too.
3 track days on it with numerous Irwindale passes. The car has about 320 whp and 310 wtq.

But something to keep in mind also is that RRE adjusted the clutch after another shop fucked up the install.
They do great work man.

it's not just the clutch, who will install it is also very important. For the latter, I recomend RRE and TT. I have great experience with them for all my clutch works. For me, Exedy-twin medallic is my take. It's a little expensive so but it comes with fly wheel and feel like stock which good for daily parking on the 405 for me.

Last time i went to MOD the Exedy Vendor was there and i ask him his opinion on the Exedy vs ACT and he told me that Exedy makes ACT or that ACT makes Exedy im not sure, but if that is the case then then both clutches must all be the same quality....Does anyone know if that is true.... My mother in law has a shop and know a vendor that makes clutches his gona get me a price ima compare to the brand names, ive seen his work on other clutches and his work is clean........

Yeah, Exedy makes the raw parts for the EVO pressure plate. They have a patent on the pull type clutches. Then ACT takes it apart and makes it right. For example look at how ACT takes out the stupid limiting button. Also look at the straps you can see in that pic. ACT has a stronger setup that keeps the pressure plate stable better. ACT makes their own disc.

ACT is a local company so tech support and service is much better than Exedy. They even participate here and support So Cal EVO.
