Two primary purposes:

1.Â* Make your tranny stronger
2.Â* You can change the ratio if you want to a combinaiton of VIII/IX gears depending on what you want to use the car for

It depends on which stage shep tranny you want to go with.

IIRC they do work on 6 speeds, but it will make your anus hurt very badly.

Here is a link to their site

all they say is a 6speed to 5 speed conversion kit. does that mean they only do 5 speed tranny's and if i want a shep tranny i have to convert mine to a 5 speed?

Here is a link to TRE 6 Speed Tranny upgrade service. They are considered to be the "other" Evo Tranny specialist and I have not heard anyone ever having any problems with them. Simply a matter of preference

i have the shep tranny and it is awesome!!! and yes its stronger and they will replace any worn parts on the tranny

mine was really bad and they had to replace a lot of parts, and i opted for the evo 8 3rd and 4th gear on my evo 9 tranny...

they have different stages and prices for the individual worn down parts, if your just doing a rebuild I think its like $899 plus shipping... Mine with the damage it cost me $2100 turn around time is also dependent on parts availability but mine was like a month...

what do you mean damage, like if you send it in for a rebuild it is only $899. If there is some damage (like you should've sent it in prior to that last drag run that ended the tranny's life) does that mean it costs a lot more?

i sent an email to TRE. i'm trying to find more info on a 6 speed. anyone with a 6 speed from Shep, TRE or anyone else?

I am about to get my tranny back from Shep Trans...here is my experience with the current turn around time @ Shep...

...I broke down 3-21-09 (At the drag strip)....shipped 3-24-09....they received it 3-30-09...Sat at Shep until 4-28-09...and is finished and shipped back out to me on 5-4-09.

Little history on my poor trans for those that care :D ....roughly August 2007 I blew the LSD out of my transfer case and along with that damaged the stock transmission with about 45k miles on the clock and roughly 100-150 launches during multiple drag strip visits (I know, I was WAY over due!)

I sent my trans and a newly purchased (used) t-case to TRE since my old t-case was FUBAR and got it back about 2-3 months later (Customer service kinda sucks as the owner, that did most of the work at the time, was the only one that answered the phones...i cant say what the CS is like now a days)

Along with the Trans rebuild and the installation of my Quiafe LSD in the used t-case they had to replace the Final Drive, Input shaft and first gear which were extra since they are not covered in the "Rebuild package"...I also had a high intensity shotpeening done to the rotating assembly.

Between my initial re-build and it braking at the drag strip I developed a 5th gear grind due to an improper shift into 5th gear...yeap, thats all it took....1 improper shift @ 7k...so I had the 5th gear hub, slider, gear and syncro replaced at a local trans shop.

This time around @ Shep....they had to replace my 2nd gear, syncro, 1/2 gear slider, Output shaft (Twisted it drag racing) and the bell housing (Hairline crack along the bottom under the center diff)

:uglystupid2: :tickedoff:

^Why its a good reason to have an extra tranny. You always have time to send out the bad one or the extra one for the treatment

Just got an Email back from Jon at TRE.

He said "At this time I'm not building the 6 speed until I have the stronger gearset in stock. Sorry"

that is it. I wonder if there are any other options. I don't need one yet, but i'm sure i will in the future!

anyone chime in on a shep 6 speed?
