So I heard from a shop that Garret's GT35R is having problems with their design of the turbo itself. What have you guys heard? my buddy was suppose to go buy 1 and he was told this and to wait it out for Garret to fix the kinks during the R & D.

I don't think so. GT35r is not a new turbo, but any turbo can have kinks. You have to buy the right turbo for the right mods/tune.

I believe you are speaking of Garretts 3076 turbo, not the 35r?

Another rumor. The GT35R off the shelf is one of the most common Garrett turbines. They are mass produced and have had great success.

There is no GT35 kit for the EVO X.

The 3076/3071 kits that Garrett is making for the EVO X are having wastegate flapper arm issues and are currently on hold.

Thread hijack... is anyone having any 91 octane luck with the Red turbo on a X? I have tooned three so far and have not seen anything worth the time and money on 91 octane. A small peak gain over 6k RPM vs a big lag hole. I am thinking the stock turbo and 91 octane is a pretty good match.

Yeah, I got 375 on one, probably about the same considering the two different dynos. to go from 345hp to 360hp on a car with cams and other goodies to an extra 15-20 hp on 91 considering the cost of the turbo, install, injectors, fuel pump and a little retuning, the $/hp ratio goes way off from all the mods leading up to it. Especially with giving up spoolup.

Close to 400 whp is still nothing to sneeze at on 91. I guess it just feels dissapointing compared to the $/hp ratio leading up to this final mod group.

How much "spool up" loss are we talking about? 1k rpms?

What is the average HP fp red equipped evo 8/9 put down on your dyno?

Anyone have ideas about which turbo set is best for EVO X? FP RED or GT3076

Neither right now.. Wait like I am. I'm the one waiting for the 3076 thru rre and the flapper issue is killing me. The red on a ten is alright but I don't see it as cost effective when there are other options out there. The red isn't as impressive on a x as it is on a IX. Mike will have info I am sure but with this delay I may be going a different route anyway.. Good luck..

How about that new BBX Blue, HB speed did you guys tune that beast yet?

The BBX makes about 70 more according to CBRD but they have good gas out there. To put it in perspective they say over pump in 85 it makes just over 100 more. I think its a great option but word is you lose a ton of spool.. like 800rpm.
