Looney Tuning

Hi Loonistas,
I am in the process of testing new maps on the mule, aka, Gear Grinder's Evo X. I love working with GG. He is willing to try new things to see if they work. Moreover, he is just a few minutes away from where I live. Here is what I am working on:
1. New throttle mapping for the Evo X GSR. We just started testing today. The most important thing to see is if the mapping triggers a CEL. GG is reporting to me that he feels a difference in the throttle in the mid-range, but nothing at the low end. He has not tested WOT yet. That jives well with the changes in the map since the low end is not modified, but the mid range is.
2. New more aggressive intake Mivec mapping. This will be next. In a week's time I will flash the mule with the mapping and test to see if it triggers any CEL. Then we will go back to the previous mapping and do a before and after logs to see if there are any hp gains.
3. I have logged several cars with the AEM intake and I have noticed that the Intake Air Temps (IATs) do not drop much (maybe 1* F) during WOT operation. I have a theory that this so because AEM used a filter with no filtering element in its mouth. As the air goes through the snorkel, it has to go around the mouth of the fitler into the filtering element. I will be doing a before and after test with the AEM filter and a cone filter that has a filtering element in its mouth. I use that filter on my race car and it fits in the AEM box with the lid on. My hypothesis is this filter will allow IAT to drop further than the AEM filter that the kit comes with.
If testing on number 1 and 2 proves successful, I will start implementing the changes on Evo Xs. I will retro-actively implement the changes on Evo Xs that I have tuned in the past FREE of charge.
