I just read the tranny problem topic but i did not finish. I had the same problem grinding BIG time shifting to 3rd gear. I brought it back to SC Mitsubishi and Warranty took care of it. It took about 1 week for them to order the part and now, all GOOD! Hope this help!

I am not sure. Let me look for the service receipt tomorrow.

If it comes back, you can try changing the fluid then run an RRE (or similar) clutch line which removes the pill and prevents the clutch for riding slightly (as it's set to from the factory).

As long as you're at it, you may as well switch to brass bushings on the linkage and shifter housing. This will make a noticeable difference in how the car feels when you're shifting.

g/l. Hope the problem doesn't come back.

That's what I'm curious about too. Also is this damaging the sychros or gears?

I also have this problem. I went to SCM to get it fixed and they said it's only a slight grind and it's nothing serious yet. They said it wasn't worth taking the transmission out and fixing it. They told me to come back when it became worse.

This is not right man. If it grinds mean something is wrong. I took it there and it was covered by warranty!

I get notchiness 2nd & 3rd and have a hard time getting into reverse when the car is barely warmed up. I had to put it into 1st then put it into reverse. When the car is at normal temperature, the car shifts smoothly
