Harman Motive intake, generic catback (dont know brand), Boost pill and a TUNE!!!

This car was standard fare for us.

I tried to make a baseline pull bit the HM intake leaned the car out so much i got 7-8 knock counts so i let off and decided just to tune it

Idle and Cruise Trims were +9 so i adjusted accordingly and retested Trims thru the cruise and idle area. Finally got Trims to +/- 1 to 2% and moved on to WOT Tuning and boost.

Here is the curve and the fuel table

Boost tuning was easy, Add a pill and dial in the WGDC maps
here you can see boost, load, and timing and knock

and here is the power chart!!
Not to shabby for 91 and MINIMAL mods!!!

AFR is tailpipe post cat so that will explain the AFR lag on spool

is it normal for the power curve to drop down like that as rpms climb???? Is that due to heat soak or something?

I'm new to these cars, just got my X about 4 weeks ago.
So i'm just wondering...

Torque on a stock turbo car is almost a mirror image of the Boost curve
as boost drops as will power so in short yes its very common.

here is an example the dotted line is boost

and another

i understand the power curve is generally relative to boost. Im just curious why boost and power drops so rapidly after 5000rpm..

Reason i ask is when I dyno'd my 03 cobra, with the stock pully it would hold boost all the way to redline and made peak power at redline...When i put a smaller pulley on it, boost would drop after 5000rpm from about 14psi to 11 but it would hold 11psi all the way to redline and peak power was made a couple hundred rpm before redline. reason boost would drop is because of heatsoak on the blower.

4.6L vs 2.0L
VE of the motors are very different
Was your redline was 7500? or like 6000 ?
a Super charger is VERY different than a Turbo as well

You cant compare a Ford V8 and a Mitsu 2L
ifÂ* you had a turbo big enuff to hold boost to 8000 and a motor efficient enough to allow torque to stay flat the HP would be insane.
HP is only (TQ*RPM)/ 5250.

here is an example of an excellent Cyl head design and a Super charger on a 2L motor (S2000)

redline was 6500 on the cobra. it had a roots 112ci blower.

again, i'm a newb to evos. I just think the power curve is crazy. Even driving around i notice after 5000 rpm this car sorta falls on its face and just doesn't seem to go anywhere.

I guess to me, the difference in the power bands of both cars is strange(not accounting for power differences)...

stock evo X suck hehe
Tuned is a different story

here is stock VS tuned with panel filtter and cat back (stock everything else)
