Ok, so today while I'm driving to the bank I noticed that my evo's speed didnt seem to match the rpm, like I would be stepping on the gas, the rpm would all of a sudden shoot to 4000 rpm or more and the car wouldn't really go anywhere, from what I have read in the stickies and what not this would mean that the clutch is slipping. Some more info on the car, from what I was told, the clutch was the stock clutch that came with the car, currently the car sits right around 47k miles. Is that a normal mileage for a clutch to start slipping very badly? I think that is the problem I am having. Anyways, if this is the problem, what clutch/clutch kit would you recommend me getting? I don't plan on putting any power mods into the car right now(performance wise it is stock except for a greddy lower intercooler pipe) so yeah. What is a good, reliable clutch that isn't too expensive?

If you don't plan on trying to get up to a billion horsepower, then act is perfect.

I daily drive my evo, and the exedy stage 1 clutch is more of a stop or go type of clutch. I have issues when moving from a dead stop on an incline. Also, moving from dead stop. Overall its a good clutch, just not good enough for daily driving.

From my understanding, the exedy stage 1 is basically the exact same as the OEM. Getting 47k on the OEM is pretty good. If you are looking to increase power I would definitely look into an ACT HDSS with Streetlite flywheel, or an Exedy twin plate.

I got a ACT 6 Puck, with Heavy Duty Extreme pressure plate on my evo with about a year worth of daily driving in traffic, and canyon runs.... PLENTY of launches and the clutch is STILL strong.. that's with about 26K ago.... Still on the same clutch and the gf can still drive the car. My advice is go to Massimo and get what I got or the ACT HDSS set up... quick turn around and you'll be completely satisfied.
