Hi All,

I have an 06 IX with 52000k and my clutch is slipping and need to replace it asap. Do any of you guys know how much south coast mitsubishi charge to replace a new clutch? I know there are shops around OC but don't know where and how much they charge. Thank you =)

Get a ACT2900 or ACT3200 with a street disc

I think South Coast charges anywhere from $500 to $600 for labor

I say buy the ACT HDSS with the street flywheel.
Have either Massimo Power or Evokid install. Highly recommeneded. Cheap labor.

Yeah and there is a ACT clutch for sale on the classifieds too... It's used, but you can still see the markings on the friction surface.

I was seriously about to buy it, but then I cut a turn too wide over the weekend and now I gotta have my damn bumper fixed... :(

It wasnt his clutch the problem. His rear diff was blown.

INGS +1

To be honest, it was kinda cracked already at mod, but I just put a fresh coat of paint over it for MOD so you couldn't tell (the center black portion). And yeah, it's a sick bumper, but it's really close to the ground so I don't recommend you get it unless you get some coil-overs or something because it WILL scrape and then crack on the pavement during hard cornering. I was just ignoring the first crack but the new one is on the side and can't be ignored. It only added like $50 to the repair bill, so it could have been MUCH worse.

Anyway, back on topic... You find a clutch yet man?

Holy crap... that should be warrantied, right?

i believe it should be unless he messed with it. if he did then yeah no more warranty.

HMatt
09-22-2009, 09:55 AM
Well, alot of places won't warranty it if you modified the vehicle. But south coast or anaheim mitsu should do it. It's a 60K warranty so you should be safe.

^not this week or this weekend though.... They are all backed-up getting stuff ready to go to the redline time attack this weekend. I called last week and they could even get me an appointment for thursday to replace my calipers, and that's not NEARLY as much of a pain as the rear diff.

That's why I said to try anaheim, they could probably get it done quicker at the moment.

Its fix already!

the drain plug was loose and drop all the fluid but i replace it already.

HMatt
09-22-2009, 04:28 PM
Seriously? It was a friggin drain plug and it leaked all the fluid out but it wasn't damaged? Lucky basturd!

hmmm i wonder if thats my problem too....because my clutch doesnt slip in first or second. it only slips in third fourth or fifth...

HMatt
09-22-2009, 06:14 PM
No... that is probably your clutch.... I gradually started slipping in lower and lower gears right? It's because the higher the gear, the harder it is to pull it, so the more likely it is to slip.

muddyIX
09-22-2009, 06:51 PM
yeah that makes sense...ugh its really annoying especially on the freeway...non stop slipping

time2evolve
09-23-2009, 12:28 AM
be careful, if you drive it to much with it slipping you could ruin your flywheel to the point where it cant be resurfaced

HMatt
09-23-2009, 08:10 AM
Eh... if he is on the stock clutch, he should be fine... Stupid thing has like these dowel pins in it to keep it from wearing down to the metal of the friction material. You change a stock clutch and the friggin thing still looks like it has a good bit of life left. Don't get me wrong, it can still heat up and warp a little, but if he isn't experienceing increased "chatter" then his flywheel should be ok.

slipNslide
10-02-2009, 10:25 AM
Yeah...but if he's saying "non stop sliping" then I'd be more worried about getting stuck on the freeway. I tried to make a clutch last as long as it could and ended up being stranded. Now that sucked!!!!
