i recently notice that my second gear feel notchy and little grinding in the morning for the first to three shift into second, but once it warm up, it shift like butter. is this normal on the MR 6 speed tranny? i don't think it the fluid, i recently change my fluid with mobil 1 75-90 ,3000 miles ago.

i had the same feel on mine on the stock fluid . when i did my 30k with reese tuning, we've used royal purple and that went away. only in cold mornings till the operating temp is reached

^or if you want to go redline... put 2 quarts of MT-90 and 1 quart of the MTL.

I normally double clutch my first 2 to 3 shifts from 1-2-3 on a cold start for that very reason. That grinding is causing damage and you'll see it occurring more frequently the more you let it happen.

You can try other fluids as others suggested or shift slow/double clutch when driving off from a cold start.

Just skip 2nd and shift to third for a couple blocks.

Once your tranny warms it'll go away.

I use that method on my 6spd running amsoil.

Normal, same here didn't start until I had about 40K though.

I have found the second gear grind to be mitigated by running Castrol Syntorq LT in the 6 speed tranny.

Yes, we sell this fluid.

I have been running it in my car for 110,000+ miles.

Price is $43.99 + $10 S&H for 2.5 quarts. PM me for more info.

How much did it help? Do you still feel any notchyness after a cold start?

When I got my MR in '05, I got annoyed with the 2nd gear notchiness. It pissed me off, especially on a new car.

For my car, it solved the issue. The Syntorq is a full synthetic. I can't promise it will solve the issue on other cars, however, we've had a very good track record with this fluid :D

B.G. worked for a bit, I've had it once in the past few months(the grind in second). I usually run through my gears when it's cold while I'm warming up, 1-6 and R while sitting there for that minute or two.

BG 2 is crap for the 6 speed (if that's what you're talking about).

I took that garbage out after 200 miles.

You know who to call if you want that grind to go bye bye :D

well I couldn't pass it up considering I won the certificate for a full BG fluids change at MOD. lol, I'm not tracking till december or something anyway, plus I only drive it about 2-3 miles a day atm. All good till January...lol, but yes, BG sucks in the cold for 6 spd......
