High Flowing Ultra-Lightweight, Competition Titanium Exhaust System.

The new Tomei Powered product concept is to "Achieve performance gains with a lasting impression". The new developments have been involved with a new type of performance mufflers. In recent years more end users are enjoying their cars with clubman sports events and also for more serious competitors entering their cars in serious track events where various constraints have been with their mufflers being restrictive, so we have designed our mufflers for pure competition use for results when needed.

We wanted to design an exhaust system for absolute total engine performance. The main priorities were for overall engine performance gains as opposed to just maximum peak power. The tubes size and length was carefully selected to suit each engine characteristics and to suit the cars chassis as well for maximum torque, response, and exhaust flow efficiency through the layout. It is difficult to increase the power on the EVO X with the muffler alone but this design has optimized in all ar as. The use of Titanium material with the single piping layout also helped reduced the overall weight of 15.65kg! This amazing weight reduction helps with the cars performance and handling whilst maintaining strength that Titanium can deliver.

1. TAIL PIPE
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/21192/ti_01.jpg
φ115 t=1mm design with straight cut finish racing model for that Spartan look. The Titanium look with the laser marking and beautiful heat gradation gives the EXPREME Ti a good visual appeal.

2. SILENCER BAND
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/21192/ti_02.jpg
Made from stainless steel the band this band is designed as a support band instead of having is welded to the actual muffler. This keeps both separated and greatly reduces stress from vibration that would usually be present if the support was welded directly to the muffler. The band is also fitted with a special high heatproof spacer rubber for increased stress reduction from vibrations.

3. CLAMP PIPE
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/21192/ti_03.jpg
Rather than the conventional T-type bolt the clamp band was chosen as it provides double the clamping force even under harsh conditions. This band is best suited for extreme conditions from high heat stress and vibrations this will firmly keep the pipes air tightly sealed together.

4. SILENCER
SILENCER CASE
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/21192/ti_04.jpg
All of the Φ152 t = 1mm Titanium design achieves the optimum exhaust efficiency and straight design, finished off with a mirror finish plate with the embossed logo and heat gradation color for that lasting impression.

PUNCHED MESH
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/21192/ti_05.jpg
The all Titanium made inner mesh tube is t=1mm φ3 P=5mm with an open slot ratio of 32.6%. With maximum weight reduction and exhaust flow being the key points you can expect the best flow rate with an addictive racing sound from this exhaust without any compromise.

GLASS WOOL
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/21192/ti_06.jpg
Unlike the usual conventional short fiberglass threads, the use of the long fiberglass thread wool was chosen for its excellent sound absorbing and excellent durability to cope with high pressure and high temperatures.

5. PRECISION WELDING
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/21192/ti_07.jpg
Titanium is well known to be the most difficult to weld with for best results as the pre-preparation is required to remove dust and grease from the material. Once the optimum conditions are achieved then with the right strictly controlled welding methods with the heat rate and speed will then make it possible to achieve the high grade finish.

6. JOINT SPRING
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/21192/ti_08.jpg
The hook anchor points allows the springs to firmly hold the pipes together which is sufficient as it is alone but the use of the clamp bands adds that extra guarantee for a secure fitment for a reliable joint.

7. MAIN PIPE
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/21192/ti_09.jpg
The main purpose for this product is for pure competition performance exhaust efficiency so the racing layout design was made with bare minimum bends as possible over the entire Φ80mm t=1mm Titanium piping and the 3 piece for ease of installation and weight reduction.

8. FLANGE
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/21192/ti_10.jpg
The flange was made from a 6.0mm plate for strength design purposes to minimize distortions and cracks from aging to guarantee strength. This keeps the light weight design yet maintains strength equal to the factory stock design and guarantees the sealing characteristics that is required.

This muffler has been developed on the Tomei philosophy for end users to truly enjoy using this product so all aspects was addressed and taken into account and not just for performance use. The Tomei Titanium material is designed with low-cost production methods with the use of strict quality control methods to maintain the high quality product that is expected from Tomei. Our production methods from the careful selection of the raw materials to every step of manufact ring allowed us to provide this high end product at an affordable price which makes it within reach for all. The kit has been put together with all bands, springs, gaskets, bolt smooth paste, nuts & bolts for a straight bolt on easy process out of the box.

COMPARISON WITH STOCK
The design was carefully designed for exhaust gas flow as the main priority so not to be too large or torque levels will drop, not too thick or will be heavier but it had to deliver increased power.

We are very excited about the quality, performance, and the price of this new product that we debuted at the Asia Auto Salon.Â* We'll be making the official North American product announcements within a week.Â* Following this, the first shipments are slated to arrive in early January.Â* In the meanwhile, we'll be posting a few teasers, specs and shots of it on our US demo car.Â*

does the exhaust sound of this meet the 95 decibel limit?

If you use the silencer (included) it's likely the system would likely operate below 95 decibels. However, this will create unwanted back pressure.

This system is designed for the performance enthusiast. It is not designed with the consideration of your neighbors or a quiet dinner down town in mind. Every measure has been taken to provide the highest quality and biggest weight savings.

I was lucky enough to get a hold of this system a few months early and I'll give a quick review.

I've run many exhaust systems over time from HKS to TRUST, GReddy and even RMR.Â* I have first hand experience with systems such as MINES and Amuse as well.Â* Simply put, this pretty much blows everything out of the water and without getting ahead of myself, this system is so good, and priced SO well, that it really won't make sense for owners to look any further then an EXPreme Ti system.

Let's start with the packaging.Â* The system is divided into 3-4 pieces depending on if you purchase the titanium cat delete pipe or not.Â* This GREATLY reduces shipping costs as well as storage space for the retailers, to say nothing of the fact that the entire system weighs a mere 4.4 kilograms.Â* That's 9.7 pounds!Â*

http://www.tomeipowered-usa.com/usa/allen/NewsLetter/enews/Nov20/Mufflerkit_2.jpg

Everything (with the exception of the flange @ the cat) is slip fit.Â* This seals better then flanged systems, provides better exhaust flow and makes adjusting the fitment a breeze.Â* I installed my system in under 20 minutes, then spent an extra 5-10 adjusting the fitment before snugging down all the connect points with t-bolt clamps.Â* In addition to the exhaust clamps, each connect point includes 2 tensioner springs similar to what you might see on a motorcycle exhaust or added security.

http://www.tomeipowered-usa.com/usa/allen/NewsLetter/enews/Nov20/ti_08.jpg

The exhaust itself is made from aircraft grade titanium.Â* This means it is stronger and lighter then other titanium grads which I’ve used in the past (TRUST specifically).Â* All of the bends are pie cut and the piping is seamless, with the exception of the taper @ the cat.Â* The end result is spectacular.

The muffler is very bling.Â* The base of the canister is burnt titanium blue, as is the tip.Â* The tip has a laser etched EXPREME Ti logo and the canister includes an imprint of the Tomei Powered logo. The exhaust packing is made from a single strand of packing twine.Â* This insures even distribution of the material and consistent exhaust note.Â* The muffler also includes a silencer.Â* This is nice if you are not running around at full throttle all the time, or if you get caught at full throttle and need to pass a decibel test somewhere.

At idle, I would say the system is relatively quiet, considering what it is.Â* I would not want to sit outside of my neighbor’s house and let the car warm up, and it resonates pretty good in a confined space like your car port or a parking garage.Â* But once your out in the open or at cruising speeds, it isn’t any louder then any other exhaust (IMO).Â* Once you open it up though, it’s all business and you get the feeling you’re driving a no holds bared, GT car.Â* (It’s very impressive).

I also received a test pipe option with my exhaust.Â* This is really a must have for additional weight savings.Â* It ways a mere 1.1 kilograms, which is just under 2.5 pounds, compared to the OEM cat which weighs nearly 15 pounds!

Jason,

What do you think of the dual exhaust setup that most X owners do?

While developing our titanium muffler system, Tomei Powered tested multiple designs, including duel muffler and duel tip systems. We found that a single muffler design offered the most ideal performance gains, weight reduction and design simplicity.

w00t for Tomei, all business.

No need for dual, heavy, power robbing, useless bends bullshit.

The exhaust is stunning :o

Also very interested in purchasing an Evo9 version. Can Tomei at least say with authority that their Ti catback will be lighter than the Mine's or Greddy versions?

True that If you decide not to get the test pipe but want a high flow cat. another downpipe etc. It would fit right? LoL 80mm? Or is it just catback to testpipe but no dp correct me if im wrong lol. My plan pretty much is a full TBE but I was wondering if Tomei was planning to do anything with that i'm not 100% sure. I am a bit confused sometimes haha

my future set up? Tomei Titanium exhaust + mid pipe and some high flow cat + some other DP to other lol
