:mitsu:3/11/2010--The Beginning
So my project is coming along great. I received the '01 Galant Controls the other day by UPS and have only been getting a few hours to run tests on the evo and study pictures/diagrams of the Galant HVAC circuits. According to the schematics our evos (8's and 9's) are pushing the same amperage as the Galant circuit, so power can easily adapt.
In case you are wondering, I have NOT soldered into the factory chip board like the guy on MP3.com did. I am using the FACTORY evo HVAC harness and testing to make sure it'll be okay with the new Galant controls. I have NOT cut/spliced into the Factory evo harness, I am in the process of making a harness so that I dont have to do so. I want to keep the integrity of the vehicle in tactÂ* :mitsu: O0 Besides, I want to make sure that if anyone wants to "return to stock" they always have the option to do so.
Currently, I have the blower switch active and also the illumination of the HVAC controls. Honestly, if someone didn't care about the rear defroster they could drive with their heater and room temperature AC as a daily driver just like I am doing so at the moment (i am driving with Galant controls in place). However, give me some time and I can figure out how to get this Galant HVAC to activate the rear defroster and we will be golden.
As for mounting, the Galant controls are SINGLE din so they WILL fit perfectly in the "radio relocation kit". Only thing we need is some spacers to align them to the screw holes to secure it down.
Ill keep you guys posted on updates and pictures when I get the chance.
