useless key?

anyone else's metal key not working to start their X?

i tried to start my car with just the metal key(left the fastkey out of the car) and it wouldnt start.

so whats the point in the key other than opening the door manually?

If you get the fast key and turn it 180 and place the butt of the key in the butt of the fast key it will turn the car on. (like the Evo 8 and 9s, the Xs have immobolizers...so the key needs to have contact with the immob chip.)

Try it...report back....I have done it myself on an Evo X....only part that sucks is that it doesn't "secure" the key when inserted that way....so use with caution....if the fast key were to come off the metal key, I dont know if the car will shut off when the immob losses contact.

the fast key and metal key do not need to maintain contact once the vehicle has been started.

be careful with this. Happened to me and I tried to start the car and the theft alarm went off and I was stuck in a parking lot. For some reason all of a sudden the key fob lost the pairing and I had to go to the dealer to get it re-keyed---really annoying
