newest project for my evo...

the heater core went out and sprayed nice hot coolant all over my fucking leg and flooded the front of the cabin w/ nasty ass coolant...
i just got the part in from mitsubishi... and so the removal of the broken heater core begins....

sad thing w/ most heater cores... is that the dash board needs to come completly off... FML...

this is day 1

Man... SCREW THAT!

I've done a fair amount of heater cores on a few different cars and the are ALWAYS a huge PAIN IN THE ASS. The only one I've done that wasn't a pain is on the old Jeeps. The damn thing pretty much just falls out on those... If we were in Florida or Mexico, I'd say you could just bypass it, but it gets pretty cold here, so you kinda need it...

Good luck to you sir!

couldn't have said it better myself... this is only day 1... i'm in no rush to get it up and running... but holy fuck... the whole dash has to come off... and that's not even the 1/2 of it yet...

the dealership charges 10 hours of labor @ 100 dollars an hour or something... something a bit out of my reach to pay right now...

^Werd, good progress on the first day though... most peoplw won't make it passed the dash before they give up! HAHAHAHA

Chris,

Mine broke twice, so I disconnected it. Sock warmers and a coat are a lot cheaper that fixing that pos.

If your head gasket goes, I think the pressure affects the core.

That is right! This has to be the most fkd up repair ever. Maybe I'll bypass my heater core now before it drops a load on my legs. Good luck with the project.
