hoping i can get some input by someone who had the same problem or knows how it can be fixed or corrected...... plain and simple the car just does not 2 step, it goes all the way to redline, my tuner set it @6k but it just doesn't seem to work........... he told to replaced the clutch switch which i did, but the car is still the same? any other ideas?

Hmm first start off with the basic...

Put the car in Neutral AT A COMPLETE STOP... NO ROLLING...

Clutch in place it in first then give it a bit of gas then near 6K see if it wants to bounce on 2 step... If still not working then have your tuner double check your map.

yeah did all the basics bro, also making sure that the car is on a flat surface, and double checked all connections underneath the dash?
found this links but i am confused but it seems the guy has the same problem as me

Yeah IDK!

Everything is set and ready according to the last time i checked when i hooked it up to ECUflash, But it's never worked as long as i've had the car!

do you have a way of verifying the RPM he set the 2 step at. Also there are 2 clutch switches, which one did you replace?

Andrew9RS

yeah turns out mine wasn't working cause the switch/connector behind the fusebox on the left hand side by your clutch leg was disconnected. Plugged it in and now it works.

Check and see if that one is connected aswell

Yes there are 2 switches on the clutch. One interrupts the starter and one goes to the ECU. Make sure they are both connected and if you can, verify that the switches are intact. I believe there is a way to Log and tell if the ECU sees the clutch pushed in or not, your tuner should be able to accomplish that.

do you have a remote start alarm in place? Have you verified that your top of the clutch switch is plugged in. If you have evoscan you can log the switch to see if its working or not.

you need to turn on your head lights, and wind shield wipers in order for it to work correctly

what ROM version are you using?

kambodianboi
10-06-2010, 01:30 PM
You floor it to use it, but it will activate at 5k rpm no matter how much throttle you use as long as:
- Clutch is depressed
- Gear selector in 1st or nuetral
- Must be stationary
- Rev to 5k
- Has to be an 05 or later. If it's an 03 or 04, then it has to be changed in the ECU before it will work

All he tells me is "it's his local tuner" and it is setup properly. ??

He has an 05 RS and he tells me his local Tuner set it up properly. Everything you posted he has tried and checked. I'm still stumped LOL

Well, it seems its NOT setup properly, if its not working.

Thanks andrew for your help, the car is a 2005 rs, my tuner said he would trace the wiring... I believe the software he uses is evoscan. My launch control was not working prior to taking it to him, I remember he set the 2 step at 6k.

just a quick FYI, Evoscan is logging software that every evo owner should have. The program used to flash the ECU is called ECUflash and is available for download at openecu.org. Sorry for getting OT

I have a Noob Question.....How does someone get launch control on there car. My buddy's MR had it but my RS doesn't??

biggiesacks
02-08-2011, 11:32 AM
its built into the stock ecu, basically a tuner just needs to adjust what RPM it activates on.
