73xxx.... just changed tranny, T-case and rear diff oil with 75-90.. after warn up is fine but just want to see if all evo 9 tranny does that... cause my friend's 9 has 28xxx and has the same issue.

So just want to see if this is command on the evo 9

One more thing... not sure if the previous owner has short shift on this evo 9.

mine has 32k and has the same problem only when its cold like on first start so im guessing its normal. I would just let it warm up if youre worried about it.

Add some shifter bushings and get rid of that short shifter! Those things suck on Evo's. The shift linkage and tranny do not like them. It mis-aligns all the moving parts. Could be why your having problems.

Im going to try that and find out if the previous owner put in a short shift or not....

Guess this is pretty command in some evo 9.

I was having some problems with second gear as well. Got some shifter bushings for both underhood and the shifter base, and it helped quite a bit. Gotta shift like a man!

Which brand did you use on the shifter bushings?

Thanks

I have Buschur. I almost got the AMS ones, but they are plastic, although it seems more logical to get the plastic ones, so it doesn't mess up the shifter housing.

Try flushing your tranny fluid to a different type and see if there is difference. We recommend BG Synchroshift.

the metal AMS ones suck. they eventually eat themselfs and take a shit.

get the polyurathane ones

I have the same problem in 2nd gear.

After it warms up, it's not so difficult.

same issue here w/ royal purple, and less than 3k miles on the fluid... I think its fluid related, as Ive read others w/ the same issue using royal purple, switch and issue resolved... Its also a lil notchy even when warm... me no likey!

I think its time to hit khiem up... ;)

Theres a possibility you might not have the proper oil in there. I would suggest you try some Redline MT90. That would be the lowest viscosity oil i would use on our trannies. Other synchroshift oils might be too thin to protect fully especially during the summer months coming up.

Heres a few useful links from the transmission pros....

Stock car or near stock can rock bg syncroshift or pen syncroshift without any problems.

moderatly or highly modified cars need to run mt-90 or thicker if you want to avoid grenading your tranny.

Also i'd like to mention your shifting problems could be caused by your clutch adjustment which could cause a lot of problems. Make sure your clutch FULLY disengages the tranny.

I got that info from john shepard which i consider is king of all transmission for 4g63 variants.
