sup sup

so my cars been acting a lil weird

i noticed today that i can get into 4th gear, but when i'm at 4000 rpm and gun it when i'm already in gear, i hear a grinding noise and the clutch slips, then the car grips half a sec later. Once it stops slipping and making grinding noises, the car goes as fast as it used to.

is this a clutch problem? syncros? transmission?

i have 80,000 miles on the car and about 10,000 on a exedy stage 2 cerametallic 3 puck clutch.

ONLY 4th gear makes grinding noises. 5th gear slips a lil bit i think...cant remember.

Also, when i cruise on 5th and 4th gear at over 3000 rpm without any throttle, it makes a little grinding sound. The noise only goes away when i step on the gas, and comes back again if i let my foot off.

hope i explained everything clearly...

any ideas would be great, thanks! O0 :mitsu:

How often do you change your fluids?

^which fluid? transmission fluid? i've never changed it before. i just go to jiffy lube for oil change.... haha

what do i need to do to fix the slipping and grinding? is it too late?

my friend said the "teeth" in the gear is all worn out. dunno if hes right

u better start changing all your fluids...it is very very important. do your trans, t case, and rear diff. you should do your oil yourself too if you have a place to do it. also where does your clutch pedal engage?.. your clutch shouldnt be slipping at that mileage unless u launch at every light, or ride it all the time.

^my clutch pedal engages like 1/3rd way from starting point ( i dont know how to describe it haha). And I did get cheap oil change. The motors says "mobile 1 only" and they guys at jiffylube were stupid enough to look at my car as a lancer 2WD and put in some weird fluid. I think i twas Penzoil 5W-10. i dont know if the oil change has anything to do with it cuz its been only like 1000 miles since oil change and its acting weird.

put the car in 5th at like 2500-3000 RPMS FLOOR IT.

if the revs shoot up and your car doesent go then its ur clutch

First off, you need to use Fully Synthetic doesn't really matter what brand and for our engine its 5W-30 or 10W-30, if they didn't put that, expect more problems. If you want to resolve the problems quickly, I suggest you take it in for service at least a 60k service.

it shoots up like 500 rpm and goes back down. is it my clutch for sure?

i heard dealers void your warranty if you go in there with after market parts... so i try to stay away from that. o and should i do oil change again? it's been 1k miles. i dont have the tools here so i have to go to jiffy lube and they charge me 90Â* :? kk thanks

driveline service should be done at least every 15k. hopefully its not too late but start there. if you have money and time do it every 10k and after any track/race event. better to be safe than sorry.

You need to come in and get your 60k service done...

for $550 you will be all set as far as all fluids and belts along with inspections...

It will definetly be worth it...

PM me if you want to make an appointment before you break something and it turns into $$$$...

my 4th gear only grinds while shifting from high rpms. ur problem sounds like the clutch. i remember when my clutch was going out, i would floor it at 3000 rpms, it would drop about 55, then pick back up. Took out the clutch ad the flywheel was about 4 different colors.
