Hey everyone I need a little input to what you all think about this a few weeks ago I got a act street clutch installed in my car I did more than enough easy driving or the clutch to break in about 600 miles......then last night I went to the Q and ran my car I made four passes the first two I rolled the start the second two I tried launching first launch went great..... I let the car cool for a little over an hour and on the second launch the clutch just slipped horribly and Now the clutch is fried WTF ! My car has about 410 whp ...... What I need to know is if anybody thinks I got ripped off with the install or if my car has to much power for that clutch clutch has about 700 miles on and only two launches the rest was easy freeway miles ...... Need some input

thats weird, did you check the clutch specs? i think it should have been able to handle that much power...it could be error on your launch, there are many factors here.. sucks nonetheless.

Thanks for the Input this really blows is it possible bad install... Only reason imasking is that the car only has two launches that sounds redicilous for an after market clutch to be completely fried.......... :'(

Dude... you sure it's just not GLAZED and need to wear it back down... Sounds to me you need more launch practice.

Letting the car just sit and cool isn't going to help a glazed clutch. Go drive it around and do plenty of engage/disengaging clutch actions if that made sense. Don't get one it... Just drive normal with Minimal boost. Let it wear back down... Seriously not talking shit but sounds like someone who doesn't know how to do GOOD launches or someone who SLIPS the clutch and let the clutch overwork itself.

Shit I'm not gonna lie I bought a 6 puck ACT clutch installed by Massimo Power and he told me to let it break in or what not... I drive it normal, low shifts minimal boost until i exited the freeway to my house to where I launched that shit at the light to see how much better this 6 puck was.... Never had an issue.....

Thanx for the advise I'm not going to say that I'm the best at launching but I'm no newb. I had my stock clutch for 39000 before it went... with the glazed clutch will that make it smell just from normall driving ...... And if I just drive it easy for awhile how long till o know if it's glazed or fried

I dunno how bad it is... but yeah it'll small for a bit till it gets back to normal conditions.. Trust me your not the first one to say so as some of the people I've talked to hasn't post about their situation I gave them the same advice and worked out fine.... Just drive it normal for a bit and do some random Heavy throttle in 5th to see if it slips or not... Then gradually (hours....DAYS...Weeks... whatever) don't launch but take off in 1st gear to see if it slips or grabs or just acts normal. From there on out you should be back on track. If it Slips again after all that is fine.... This for sure your clutch is not suited for your car.

GOOD LUCK O0

after reading what alphakennybody advised, i had to do the same routine after some mild launches and it def does help and brings back the clutch's functions, great advice alphakennybody!

I sure hope so I've done about 60 miles sense the issue and I can't see a diff....how long did take for you clutch to return to normal function

@squirmos87 Â*Glad it worked you for... O0

Just do what i said in my previous posts.... You should be fine.. However saying you did 60miles isn't gonna change anything unless if you did 60 Miles and for every 10 secs you were upshifting then downshifting the wholllllllllle way the 60 then yeah. lol Of course i'm not telling you to do so just saying...

I don't know what you mean by "not feel a difference" Dont do anymore launches until the clutch grabs throughout all gears all different kindas of loads..

Shoot me a PM with your number and I'll see wassup... BTW were you located... Prolly SD since you were at Q
