So they have been doing construction on the roads in my neighborhood and they tore up the roads. Well a couple of days ago they started repaving the roads and so they towed all the cars that were parked on the road. When they towed my car they towed it with the back wheels rolling on the street. Well when I went to pick my car up a service required light went on. I took it to the dealership and come to find out my transfer case was burnt up and out of fluid :tickedoff:!!! The estimate from the dealer is $4624 :'(. Well hopefully the towing companies insurance will cover this :knuppel2:. Has this kind of thing happened to anyone else?

I would immediately file a claim with my insurance. That is what you pay them for. Get on the towing company and even try to find out who the construction company is. I had something similar happen where my car got messed up by construction that was subcontracted by the city. I went to my insurance with the info on the construction company and then went after them. Meanwhile, my car got fixed with no out-of-pocket expenses.

oh man that sucks, like Jamesinger said, file a claim, i'd be so pissed if this happened to me. just the fact that it happened to you has me a bit upset that it could have been me.

You never received a notice to move your car due to the pending road construction? Where the heck did the fluid go?

Yep, those stickers would come in handy. As far as notice goes there were signs up saying not to park in the neighborhood between 7-5. There was no where to park anywhere nearby so I risked it. I thought I would be gone by the time they started working because usually they don't do anything for most the day. I paid $300 to get my car back and I accept responsibility for that. I don't think they were in the wrong for towing my car, it's how they towed it that I disagree with. I thought tow truck drivers had to go through training on how to tow rear, front, and all wheel drive cars.

the good thing is that your accepting the blame for why they towed it in the first place. But they should know how to tow a fucking awd car. unless they though it was a lancer lol.

anyways, any update?

Well I finally got my car back! The tow truck company's insurance paid for the repairs. That's a huge sigh of relief. We'll I learned my lesson, and I'm buying that sticker. Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else.

transfer case gets so hot from slipping it melts the seal at the right axle. unable to repair at that time. it makes a good boat anchor :2funny:
