I will be picking up some rubber for the wheels size is 265-35-18. I have 4 tires in mind and before making my purchase I want to know you guys' input. I pretty much daily my X so I need something that has good amount of thread life (300). These tires below all have 300 thread life. Also I considered is of course performance tires that grips in dry and wet.

Falken 452
Nitto 555
Yokohama S Drive
Dunlop DZ101
Hankook V12 (I have considered these tires but thread life is 280 and I dont know something about Hankooks)

I liked the Nitto 555's when I did have them but for the price it wasnt worth it at the time of purchase if they are all in the same price range and its your daily tire i would get the one you can find the best deal on, im sure some of the tire vendors on SCE can accomidate :)

V12's would be my choice of the ones listed above. Aren't the OEM tires rated below 300 TW though?

ya the Advan A13 OEM Tires are 140 or 180 thread wear which is pretty much nothing.

Just dropped off my X to SCM...really need new tires now, freaking Nitto NT05's are garbage.Â* 7500 miles and they are shot and that's only to work and back, 12 months driving.

The guys at SCM are suggesting the V12's too, so I'm doing some research.Â* As for the Federals, Grippy, you are the only one I know of who's really supporting this brand, not really getting much info.

I'm sticking with what I know works, Toyo, specifically the R1R's for the X.Â* My IX has the R888's and those are good for the power of that car.Â* My wife has Toyo proxies as well, and those are pretty good, especially with the number of miles she drives. So Toyo it is...and BTW, if anyone from Nitto is reading this, your NT05's are a piece of shit...fu$king shit. A total disappointment.

I also sell Toyo Â*;) (same day turn around also Â*^-^)

The RS-R is a really good tire.. Hopefully the guys who have tried it can give you their thoughts. I currently have r1rs on my stock wheels. I like them but will be trying the rs-r next. On my old suspension setup when I pushed the r1r's to the limit they would slide. On my Robispec setup those r1r's gave out Â*:-\ I felt and heard the sidewall give out. I also had NT05's I think its a good tire but it does waste really quick.

what in the hell are you doing with the nt05????
not even my RA1s or R888 lasted that low in mileage, hmmmm
I had 2 different sets of nt05 and nt01 with great success...
i had my current nt05 over 13k with normal rotation and can handle prob another 6 months driving back and forth from work and home as my DD ...

That's the problem, the NT05's were on the slow evo and yes, they were rotated, well, twice. No track days, no cray ass driving, no drag racing...nada, it's the slow evo as stated. Hell, my R888's on the IX lasted longer and still going strong. This is one of the reasons why I'm pissed, that plus the danger of driving in the wet. Honestly, driving over 50 mph on the 405 a few weeks back was a major hazard and had my family with me.

The tires from the start was a disaster with the car sliding around corners at below normal speeds. The X is my DD...it's my quiet time when I'm driving and it's primarily for me to get to work and lug around the girls on the evenings and weekends.

The car was set up my John M. as well, so no shitty alignment etc.

Anyhow, someone else may have better luck, like you with the tires. I'm staying away from the Nitto brand forever.

Ran the Hankook RS-2's and loved them. Going to swap to the v12's (I know there not quite the RS-2's) as I have found respect now for Hankook as tire manufacture. Have run them on now on both my X and my STI and they have held up quite well.

Geo those Federal tires are very nice just not alot of people know about them yet. Also on the NT05 are great tires as long as u dont abuse or over heat them, yes u can destroy a set of nt05 in 1 track event but also depends on how u drive... personally all the nitto i have had great times with but now.. if you looking for somthing really nice i like the bridgestone re-11 but the are a bit pricey. thats what i am using on my heavy as evo x for nasa tt and rta street class. up to brdigestone!

stock tires are 180. it only lasted me around 9k miles. but i m running on hankook rs3 which is 140...my car has about 18k miles and still have 60 percent of tread left...im also definitely drive the car a lot harder than before =)

+1 Water irrigation on the tire was the focus for the S.Drives and it does it VERY well despite being one of the older models on the market today.

Also if you're looking for a cheaper tire that has All-Season characteristics and also a bit of performance check out the Avid ENVIgors. I have them on my X and some track guys who have driven my car say that it feels like a 300 treadwear tire... its actually a 560 treadwear tire =)
