Has anyone done this? I've been toying with the idea but keeping saying to myself, "You're going to screw them up!"

I know it's been done, but I'm looking for someone local; perhaps willing to pay to have mine done.

I was thinking of doing this as well, My friend does it for Subarus and they always come out perfect with no leaks or condensation.

I've done it on my car. It's really simple but it takes awhile as you'll have to wait for the paint to dry, etc. I really suggest you look into doing it yourself.

There's a thread in evom with a PDF file attached to it. It's really simple though. Just lots of time waiting for paint and then adhesive to melt.

yeah i did rencii's

simple just takes patience

1. pick heat source ( heat gun, oven )
2. bake the head light
-oven, i do not remember the temp lol but i would say 325 and check every 3-5 minutes to see ifÂ* the silicon is soft
-heat gun, you can either stick the headlight into a big box close it up and heat it up with the heat gun OR you can simply heat the headlight up directly with theÂ*heat gun
3. disassemble the headlight, it looks tricky but just inspect what screw goes where and what bolt does what and you should be good
4. choose your paint/color i think you may have to sand it down im not sure... but if you go with plastidip no sanding or primer needed.
5. if you want mask off whatever areas you do not want painted ex. the amber reflector or whatever
6. put it back together
7. reheat the silicon and seal the headlights back up (MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN THE INSIDE LENSE!!!)
-if you are afraid of not sealing correctly you can add more silicon and should probably find some sort of clamp to hold the two pieces together tightly
8. reinstall on the car and aim as needed

i've done mine, helped a few other members with their VIII/IX/X headlights.

+1
its simple, just takes time..i did 200 degrees for 30 min, works perfectly and while you're waiting for the second like in the oven, u finish the first one and can start reassembling. i took all the housing off the lights, it was like 5-7 pieces.

Not sure if anyone will take the plunge. It takes a long time, probably around 10 hours to do both sides, let it dry, etc. Not to mention, if it leaks, it's a pita.

There's a guy on the evoxforums who's talking about becoming a merchant on the forum and doing it full-time, he said turnaround will be a couple of days.
