My bud has an evox and is getting an upgrade on his brakes and I was wondering if there is a kit for putting those on my Evo IX. Any help?

Maybe with some custom brackets

Why pointless? An inch bigger all around and I can get em for super cheap

Its pointless because you will be spending money on something that will not improve your stopping power. You want it for the "looks" which in the end will probably cost you as much in time/money as just plopping down the cash for larger stoptechs.

Just curious mostly too see if anybody has done it yet, I think it would def benefit on the fronts a little cuz of the surface area increase.and getting them for practically nothing would make it a cheap upgrade if it helped especially since I don't have a couple grand lying around to get the stoptechs, which would be great.

bj69stang, do it and report back soon how you did it. it'll be interesting to know. 1" difference in size in swept area is a lot for not much money. sometimes, people are missing the point of modding cars. for me, it's the satisfaction, the joy that you get from it. sometimes, the little things are the ones that surprises us the most. it's not pointless! good luck.

doesn't the front have floating rotors as well?

Only the MR's.

Aren't they the same front calipers?

i was thinking about doing it, they are not the same calipers. the mounting points are further away on the X and a special mounting bracket would have to be fabed. it would likely require some trial and error to get everything lined up right(rotors, calipers and hubs). too much for me in my garage. something maybe one of the bigger names might venture a go at.

btw i have seen evo ix brakes on a X(for those wanting to run 17s for dragging and whatnot). so it is feasible.

I have been thinking about doing such a mod work using the new generation BMW rotor which come with oem aluminum hubs. some cost as low as $100 per rotor. for example part # 34116782601 they are 330x24mm and are about 15lbs. our stock rotors weight about 22lbs. below are few of the potential rotors which I have found to have aluminum hubs and are at a good cost point. I have yet to look for a set to replace the rear rotors but that will be the subject of another thread. yes the bolt pattern is different but that's a piece of cake to get redrilled.
