my question: is there a mileage on an Evo where it would not be a good idea to start modding?
my evo IX has 69,000 miles, and i am beginning to gather parts for a conservative goal of 300whp.
basically will i have a reliable car after i do all this work?

There is a guy on this forum that started modding his car after 150k..

Your question is very open ended, if you have followed all of the maintenance thus far and don't abuse your car, than your engine is brand new so ya go at it...

And 300whp won't put a whole lot more stress on your car.

Also, keep this in mind...

When you start "modding"...there might not be an end. Modding, is the new drug, the FDA just refuses to recognize it O0

hhaha yes i have taken care of the car.
Massimo actually did the 60k on it several months ago.

ugh nah i have an agreement with my bank account to make 300whp and be done!

^^ LOL you may not want to sign that agreement just yet HAHA... My goal is 400WHP on pump, but I have a feeling that won't be it when I reach it.

i didnt mod or get tuned until 85k...then got tuned on e85 at 90k. only thing that happend to me was a series of boost leaks lol.

Yep the moding start on my evo at 115k. I think you could get to 400whp on e85 for under 2k.

one4: I have got the same, boost leaks all over the place. Time to replace gaskets, and put in some tbolt clamps.

Lets see, for 500 i got..

2.75 Tunabe dp -50bucks
Test pipe - Free
Nisei LICP - 80 Bucks
INjen UICP - 40
RSR Catback - 100
ETS Intake - 30
Boost Controller - 50
Tien S tech Springs - free
Tatrix Cable - 100 I think


I have more done to it now, but those are the mods that got me to 300
