View Full Version : 4th gear problem!
i just finished doing my 5 speed transmission rebuild kit that i bought from Jacks Transmission and i installed the new QM 7.25 twin clutch at a local shop, now i am facing a problem only when driving which is that i can not go into 4th gear when downshifting from 5th ( ex: 4th-5th-4th) or if i was 4th then neutral then back again 4th. anything else is working fine. this happen only when driving.
any ideas?
i wonder what will cause that?

maybe the shift fork or the synchros arent timed right?
the QM is push style and use hydraulic release bearing.
can it be something in the 4th synchro, although i can shift from 3rd to 4th smoothly?

do you have a stopper for your clutch pedal.
do you have a stopper for your clutch pedal.
no i didnt put one, but i lowered the pedal to have less pedal travel for less stress on pressure plate.
do you think its much of a clutch problem than something in trany?

if you have a problem just with 4th gear, i will say is your tranny.
that what i was thinking off.
any clues what in tranny will cause that. i mean going from 3rd to 4th is smooth, but going from 5th to 4th it does not come in as if it is locked or something. it will go if i just go 3rd then go 4th while clutch depressed.

is your return synchro.
if it was return synchro then it shouldn't let me go from 4th to 3rd then to 4th right? can u elaborate more please
it doesn't grind or make any sound while trying to engage 4th gear when downshifting. it just doesn't go through it as if it is locked.
