5,500 miles on my EVO10 GRS w/ 5 spd. Last couple of weeks have noticed drops of fluid on garage floor and smelled burnt fluid while driving car. Jacked car up today w/ son who has an EVO9 and there was fluid all over the heat shield & differential & bottom of car. I immediately texted Sam SMASH (he sold me the car @ HB Mitsu) who said to call Mitsu Road Side Service and have the car towed to Victorville Mitsubishi (I live near Victorville). BUT, I just had the free Mitsu factory oil change & inspection last week @ 4,850 miles and theyobviously missed this leak as they checked the box on the 27-point inspection that nothing was leaking. I don't trust them. Any suggestions as to who to trust to do the work? Anyone else had this problem?

I would try to get it down to HB or SCM Mitsubishi because it should be covered under warranty, so if they mess up it's not your fault and they will have to deal with it.

Drive it or ask Sam to pay for the 90-mile tow? I just put 750 miles on it the past few days to and from Morro Bay and it is running well.

We've seen this on several 2010 Evo Xs and they have been repaired under warranty by the above named dealerships.

I would just let VV Mitsubishi take of it because of what I said on my above post.

KT Motoring: thank you for your advice. Would you trust VV mitsu? Is the car OK to drive 90 miles to HB Mitsu?

No idea of knowing really because no one would know how much fluid has leaked out already.

Drove my 2010 EVO to HB Mitsu where Sam SMASH gave me a Lancer as a loaner for a week while the Service Manager Derin had the entire transfer case replaced under warranty. No more leaks so far. 8)

Nice :) how long ago did you do that? I saw a black/grey X on a trailer a couple weeks ago on the 55 south and I thought it might have been you lol

This just happened to me while I was in kentucky. Its a known issue with 2010 evo x gsr's Its the transfer case breather valve venting excess fluid which then gets onto the downpipe and burns IE the burnt oil your smelling. This is to the factory overfilling the transfer case fluid. Id take it to the nearest dealership and have them fix it under warranty. Also mitsu replaced my transfer case completely since there is a seal between the transmission and t case and if it failed which is most likely the case the trans and t case fluid will mich which is a no no. Well good luck!

Yes, actually they replaced the whole T-case as well because that seal did fail on him. But good looking out.
