So im used to the noise, but it has changed. It went from a consistent ping with the actuation of the motor. Now it has became speratic. Im not sure if this is a problem or not, but im deffinatly obsessive compulsive over my car's noises. If anyone has any experience or thoughts on this it would be much appreciated.....

I tried this thing where u keep your rpms at 3500 for like 10 seconds and you repeat that process a couple of times. Search it on evom and you'll find it. Mine wasn't as bad as you say your is but it worked for me.

Could be that they're showing signs of wear? Things do wear out after time... and what does reving it to 3500rpm do?

could be a pesky lifter that's sticking...so I assuming the member was suggesting was to build some oil pressure by revving it.

reving to 3500 a couple times bleeds the lifter and can eliminate tapping of the lifters

If and when you did cams were the lifters bled, reason I say this is because a fellow evo friend did his cams and did not bleed his lifters and the noise went from steady low to worse after a few months now its pretty dam bad.

the cams and bleeding lifters is def a hit and miss so that could only be a guess. chances are if you hear it right after install of cams than the cam job caused it. pretty sure massimo has a thread stating that the lifters clicking from cams is a hit and miss. plus i installed my cams myself and didnt even know wtf lifters were but thankfully i dont have the click :) good luck tho and hopefully you diagnose/fix your prob!
