diy: fukn highway debris : (

One of our worse nightmares as evo enthusiast is to be on the high way and have a big ass piece of tire fly at you and not being able to swerve out of the way.. happen to me a couple of days ago. Finally have a day off to try and fix it. Instead of going to a paint shop or something i decided to try and do it my self..

Went to my local hardware store and picked up some fine grit sand paper aswell as some medium grit paper..Â*

some places were worse off than others so i had to apply a little more pressure but for the most part light pressure was enough to do the job

Before, decided to take a pic once i already started so the rubber was worse than shown..

after : )Â* Â* came out nice and clean. I cant see any fade on the paint from the sand paper. Im sure if i got all close and personal there is a slight diff but i cant tell.. just wiped it down with a wet rag and bam done.

Very nice! Had something similar happen with a random construction cone in the middle of the lane on the fwy. Lucky me it all buffed off.

Do the red and white x's still use a single-stage paint like the viii's and ix's?

Not sure on the paint.. i know i have little random place where it chipped off like on mirrors and side skirts.. i think the bumper might have an extra coat of paint

Lucky man I had a similar encounter with a piece of tire but my ings+1 front bumper was totaled no saving that lol glad it worked out for u

I wasn't so lucky with the tire I hit :( broke off half the clips

Damn guys sucks.. i hit it pretty hard.. guess that front corner on the x's bumper is pretty solid
