View Full Version : jdm 5th gear conversion
i have evo8 5 speed tranny with evo 9 1rst gear. i am planning to put the jdm 5th gear ratio(0.825/ 162mph@8000) instead of my long ratio(0.72/ 186mph@8000).
i dont DD my evo; usually friendly drags rolling till 5th gear. i am thinking it would be an advantage in keeping the car in the power band since rpm wont drop alot. however i am not planning to pay for 4.11 final drive at this time.
anyone did the conversion? is it worth?
thanks

any updates on evom?
nothing! although i bumped the thread...
i guess its a good conversion taking into consideration that i will not go over 150mph in any friendly drag.
now i shift from 4th to 5th and rpm drops from 7900-8000 to 5500-5600, with the jdm i guess rpm will drop to 6300-6400 and not to forget that i have a big turbo; that will keep me in power band.
but still would like to hear other feedback
