Hello everyone I came across this person selling a chip for an Evo 8. I've never heard of them but they claim to almost be like a piggyback unit that goes between the harness and ECU. Here's a link to their website http://www.unichip.us/. Anyone heard of them?

Unichip works great when used in conjunction with the proper fuel line magnets!

but don't you need an extra oil cooler in the refrigerator to stick the magnets on?!

I understand these things to an extent... You can MAKE a variable one that you splice into your MAF wiring yourself for $15. And they have thier place... For instance an old vehicle with an ecu that's not flashable and naturally aspirated, you can dial in your AFRs a little better. The jeep guys do it when they drop the 4.3l stroker motors into the 90's jeeps. It's cheap, it works, they don't have to do any hardcore tweaking, and it allows them to tune thier motors to run a safe AFR. They aren't exactly after peak performance.

If you have a flashable ecu (like in the evo), there is absolutely NO GOOD REASON to use a piggyback of anykind.

yes thanks to the computer geek gods, we have essentially a stand alone type programmable/tuneable set up.
due to the turbocharged nature of the evo any standard off the shelf "tune" will either lack performance of be dangerous to your motor. things get ugly real quick with boost!
