I am building a project show/track car for a friend of mine. He has a wheel set up of 18X10.5 +20mm with 275/35/18 tires. He would like to go to a lower profile sidewall but the only thing I can find is a 265/35/18 that offer any performance and give the thinner look. Does anyone know of a better setup that is a little thinner? I really don't need info on if it will fit or not we already rolled the fender and the 275/35 setup fits fine so going down in size should not effect fitment. Thank you everyone!!!

It'll have more if a stretched look.

It's 10mm less tread than 275 so it would effect grip a slightly.

if he wants wants a smaller width.. might as well get rid of the "track car" part of the project..

it really depends on the tires brand, as well.

^+1 to this. lower than 265 on a 10.5 inch wheel would be really stretched.

I know this... :( but i can't convince him otherwise... I have 275 on mine and it is perfect

let him do it and then you can laugh once he changes his mind.

not sure if you can see but my white X has 275/35 on 18x10 and the black one has rpf1 that are 10.5 stretched on stock tires. it's lowered on swift R springs and you can see the big gap.

Ok, what? Your title says thinner sidewalls, but you actually want thinner tires for the "stretched" look.

From experience, hankook v12 evos look more stretched than any tire of the same size for more reason. Try those in the 265/35 18 and see what it looks like. If you want more of a stretch than that, you can give up some on the sidewall.

In other words, you can try like a 245 or 255/40 and it should end up being about the same overall diameter because of the good amount of stretch. Plus it would be WAYYYY easier to mount than a 245/35.

This is so complicated... He does not want a stretched look but I think that is the only way to get a thinner sidewall at this point and he refused to change wheels...

Does not want stretch look, but wants thinner side walls? If you get low profile tires, that's thinner side walls... If you run 265 on 10.5 that's being stretch... 10.5 with 265 and thin side walls will be stupid.

It's gonna look like this pretty much

That's nothing...

This is probably going to be the new tracking trend I guess.

I had an encounter on the 15 one night with a honda crx with the back rims looking like that ^. He tried to get me to run, but I was too busy laughing at the sparks flying out from his rims every time hit hit a bump.
