whenever I upload cell phone pics., they turn sideways.
I noticed this on other people's threads too.

It's usually an Apple: Mac/iPhone problem. Are the people posting sideways pictures using Apple products?

I am. It happens whenever I upload a personal pic. but pics. from the interwebs is all good, so I have been uploading stuff to the interwebs and then to this site.

Mo got a iPhone and my pic never comes out side ways.

I don't have an iPhone, so who knows. I only assume it's because the picture was taken sideways, i.e. landscape, that it is uploaded sideways on this site. The orientation is stored in the picture's meta-data. Sites like this probably don't read the meta-data and happily display the picture as it was uploaded.

When viewing a picture on Apple products software, through the magic of science, can detect the orientation you are holding your device and the orientation the picture was taken and align them so the picture is displayed properly; hence, you not knowing the orientation of the uploaded picture (until you see it posted).

Of course, I may be wrong. So, don't shoot me.

I'm having the same problem trying to upload photos from my iPhone. Has anybody found out how to fix this?

I like Macky's answer. If you're driving sideways, a sideways picture should come out right-side-up when you upload it. Brilliant. ;)

If it comes out sideways, I'm sure you can rotate it, resave, then post the url
