Good to see some activity on here lol.
Azian did you end up in PA?
We are about 40 miles North of Seattle, and the cost of living is not really much better. It is really nice up here this time of year though!
Currently in the hospital...my son (our first) is on his way!
once in a blue moon, lol :)
Yep! Made it Sunday night. Drove from SoCal to Denver my first day, Denver to Chicago my second day, met some cool evo guys over social media and there was a car event with an evo guy that does fab work in the Chicago area, so I stayed an extra night in Chicago to do that, then left late the next morning from Chicago to Williamsport! Drove a total of 3,000 miles in 4 days :p
Not bad! good distance with a pit stop!
It's so sad to see how this forum has died off and is now a ghost town. Kudos to the few of you who still come in and post. I remember the days when it was rockin'. I used to come in and browse from time to time (been a lurker forever) to avoid all the chaos over on EvoM. I also used to login to NorcalEvo way back in the day but that forum was destroyed after the server failure nearly a decade ago. I've never owned an Evo myself - multiple 4G63 DSMs but no Evos - though I came very close to buying one a couple of times, hence why I spent time browsing the forum.
Most all region-specific automotive forums are now gone with the rise and mass adoption of Facebook. Even the bigger forums like EvoM are getting a fraction of the participation they once did. It's no surprise though, seeing as how so many forums like this one and EvoM still run ancient forum software that is riddled with bugs, old technology, and poor usability on mobile devices. Between that and the domination of FB, older looking forums like this are all but doomed. Even some forums that run newer forum software have a hard time keeping people engaged.
For what it's worth, I approached Dino last year and offered to take over SoCalEvo to try and revitalize it - I run a site called DSMtuners.com - I have a soft spot for Mitsubishis. I figured he would want to see someone take the baton and keep his vision going. Unfortunately, the asking price was way more than I could justify for a forum that has almost no traffic and the odds stacked against it with the Evo platform being discontinued and a few other larger Evo forums competing for the same eyeballs. Hell, MMNA itself looks to be on its last legs. I reached out to a couple well known members/vendors in the Evo world who I trust and they told me it wouldn't be worth the effort or the investment, even if the forum was given to me. Still, I wouldn't mind trying to update SCE and testing some things to try bring more Evo owners in, even if it meant making the forum focus more than just SoCal - again, I have a soft spot for Mitsus. Probably would be a futile effort, but seeing the way Internet Brands has run EvoM, and EvoXforums being taken over by the Vertical Scope network (and don't get me started on the dumpster fire that is FB groups), it sure seems like someone should jump in and do something to try and turn things around in the Evo community.
Maybe Dino will change his mind and reach out someday, or maybe he'll just let the site die off and shut it down when there's no longer a compelling reason to keep it online - not that there looks to be now... that would be a shame. It's like seeing a wrecked Evo sitting in a driveway collecting dusk, rusting out, wishing the owner would sell it to someone who will work on it and try to bring it back to life.
That's beyond the scope of what I have as the bench warmer for the forum.
It's up to Dino on what he wants to do.
But you are more than welcome to stick around. :encouragement:
Very happy for you dude!
Thanks Nick. Still got your Focus RS? How’s it been?
Ha! well if it's any consolation, I took my sweet time. I'm 36 and many of our friends have older kids.
Has the RS been reliable, still enjoying it?
The RS been good. Relaibility wise its been good.
I have and MY18 so it does not have the same issues or the earlier one (knock on wood).
Minor imperfections are cropping up (like door seal), but I have an extended warranty or I can work on it myself.
It's fun driving the RS..... I do miss my Evos though. :grey:
no I just need my post count up to edit in the market place. lol
