Think of them as a flat rectangle that attaches on the bottom of a sideskirt. Almost like a sideskirt extension if that makes more sense.
They definitely look black to me. The only reason they appear gray is because of the reflection of white.. there is a gap in reflection near the front fender where it clearly is black.
