out of curiosity why the 272/272 combo instead of the 264/272 staggered setup?

    yessssssss that

after stage 1, I'm guessing that you'd want to go ahead and replace the clutch, right? I'd want to include that into my list of things, seeing as the stock clutch probably won't want to hang with close to 350whp.

Meh... depends on how hard you are on the stock clutch... Darwin was on his stocker for the longest time.

Having an Evo.... it's always good to be saving up for a new clutch anyway since the past record is so GREAT on those

my clutch would have been fine if it weren't for the drag strip.

    same here.

i actually changed out my stocker preventatively (when there was nothing wrong with it) at 13k, switched to the ACT which went haywire on me, switched BACK to the stocker . . . and the car is fine.

its got a bit more power than stock, made 360hp / 350 tq at Tuning Technologies, and has seen quite a few track days, and is still running just dandy. I never drop the clutch though, b/c rarely do i get a chance to live my life a quarter mile at a time

prolly mainly becuase you get all the bad idling without all the power increase... i mean the compromise is so slight (one of the first things goku ever told me was that there's practically no diff in idle between straight and staggered).

plus with the correct cam timing you can eliminate most of the bad idle (at least the stalling kind)

Call up Road///Race Engineering and rattle off the list of parts you want and ask for the price installed and tuned. They will give you a number. Post it here. (This is what Gray will tell you too).

    http://www.roadraceengineering.com/evo.htm

The numbers will differ a little based upon things like choice of 3" catback exhaust and such. The bang for the buck is very good on all these Dr. Gray/RRE eleventybillion stages.

Secret Items not on the menu:

BBQ Option Pack: Comes with a 3-lap demo ride with a HMAGBS customer as well as a Barf-Bag. Cost: your lunch.

#1 Animal Style with Shake...Style: You magically make 10bhp more across 75% of your usable power range. Cost: Under $6.

Horribly Malnurished Asian Girl Bribery Style: You get all the same power and torque, but on 87 octane. This yields you a recurring savings of $0.20 per gallon of gas, but gas mileage in the 300 miles per tank through canyons range has been achieved. Cost: You may be subjected to k-pop.

evokupo Style: You ask lots of questions and are generally a PITA, but you also offer the benefits of the HMAGBS. Dr. Gray is torn so you end up with a good tune and lots of power, but your trunk smells like Urine? :?:

So wait, not to jack the thread, but I'm a little confused on RRE. So RRM and RRE are like the same company but have seperate garages in sante fe springs? I used to go to RRM all the time for my lancer stuff. :?:

Yeah they try to keep it confusing...

Road Race Engineering is the main shop. Been around forever, specialize in EVO, DSM and Mazda 323GTX stuff. They make rally cars, build racing transmissions, fabricate intercoolers, piping, exhaust, downpipes, intakes, seat brackets, rollcages, fuel systems, everything that you need to make a car go. Plus they do service work like clutch jobs, cam installs, and tuning. Basically one stop for everything on your car, and any parts you want. They have built a lot of the Mitsubishi cars for the SEMA shows, as well as building and maintaining a dozen or so race cars for different classes of road racing, autox, drag racing and rally.

Then from there some other shops sorta branched off:

-Road Race Motorsports / Carbontrix do carbon fiber stuff and Lancer (not EVO) performance parts

-Raod Race Service builds EVO and DSM engines as well as doing the installation/removal of the engines and general stuff related to engine swaps. They build 4G63 2.0L, 4G63 2.3L stroker, and 4G64 2.4L motors. They sell their motors to other shops as well

-Road Race Chassis is the newest and is John Mueller from RRE setting up shop across the street with his own space. They do chassis/suspension work as the name suggests and also maintain the race cars for Kent Jordan

Dr. Gray Stage 1 without cams should be close to 300ish. If you add cams, it'll be anywhere from 320-340whp, depending on your particular car.
