    No need to worry bro. The Trans overheat issue is only a problem when the car is being tracked relatively hard and in warm weather. They sell a cooler system for the GT-R's Trans that helps allot and runs around 3k I believe.

    Also, if he does decide to track the car tell him to prepare to spend a few grand replacing the factory carbon rotors and pads. And that the fluids are very important to be changed on that car on a very regular basis using what the factory suggest. Nissan is a mother fuckers when it come to the warranty on that GT-R.

    Here are some prices of the fluids;
    ATF, 999MP-GTRT00P Suggested list is 79.99 each. Nissan says you need 10.25 quarts.

    Diff, KLD4U-75401P Suggested list is 59.99 each. Combined front and rear you will need about 3 quarts. (Front 1-3/8pt) (Rear 3-1/4pt)

    Nissan is selling an actual brake fluid deemed GT-R specific but it is nothing more than you off the shelf DOT 4. The bottle does say GT-R though. If you want the GT-R logo on your fluid bottle the number is KN9U0-40001P. I think they are 500ml bottles. Suggested list is 49.99 each.

    Every 18k is correct for these fluids to be replaced unless you have tracked/Canyon Ran the car. As I understand it the cars recording system knows when you have been to the track.

    There are no exact details for maintanace intervals if you track the car because Nissan doesn't really clarify it well. But in order to preserve all parts I would do all fluid changes every time I got back from the track.

    ***(This is a correct list that gives accurate prices.)*** < Every one is always throwing out beyond retarded maintenace cost price numbers for this car. Its not a Ferrari, just an extremely expensive Nissan.

    Here is the parts cost without labor for the Carbon Rotors and Pads;
    Front Pads D1060-JF20B – $708.71
    Front Rotors 40206-JF20A – $1148.26ea
    Rear Pads D4060-JF20A – $577.30
    Rear Rotors 43206-JF20A – $852.98ea
    Total…………………………. $5288.49

    Nissan charges 6-8 hours to do this brake job from what I have seen and depending on the service department. This is not actual time spent to complete the job, it is a flat hour rate for the brake job. < This is how a service dept. works.

    Note: Being that the Rotors and pads for the GT-R are Carbon units they don't show normal wear like a standard pad or steel rotor. You will never see them "wear out" so to speak. They will actually always look new to the eye. The way that you check both the Carbon Pads and Rotors for wear is by putting them on a scale and checking their mass vs a weight/wear chart. The weight of either the pads or Rotors will tell you if they are worn out or not. The more worn the units are the lighter their mass will be. And by the weight of the untis you can tell how worn they are.

    ^^^ Many people make the mistake of not listening to the service dept. about needing new brakes and eventually run the car until it has no brake. These people don't understand how you go about determining wether the Rotors or Pads are good or going bad. They go try to go by eye sight and since you will never see any wear on a Carbon brake set-up they think the service dept is trying to rip them off. Make sure to tell your brother about this if he isn't already familiar with the characteristics of Carbon brakes okay.

    Now its time for some cheap replacement parts, lol.

    Wiper blade refills;
    Drivers 28895-JF00A – 26.12
    Passenger 28895-JF01A – 26.12

    Air intake filter;
    Air filters are 16546-JF00A and are 32.03ea. The GT-R uses two of these filters.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Alex, my brother is aware of the cost of maintenance. Cause I nagged at him for getting a GTR. But overall, he garaged at my parents place, no plans yet on what he wants to do with it. My brother doesn't track any more, but we will probably track next year after we settle a few things. (Living at a place with no garage SUCKS!)

    My bro isn't too concern about the warranty, cause we all know it would be a bitch to get it warrantied anyways.

    @Mike, you hating again? Give me a hug next thursday at Torrance meet :D

    because i love bananas...

    banana, llama!

    putting a banana skin in a microwave for the right amount of time can give you a high a bit like acid. but if you dont put it in long enough, you dont get a high, put it in too long, you die. and no-onee knows how long you put it in for. bummer.
