Does that really work? I would think the officer may find that confrontational. Curious???
Hmmm.. So if I never mod/ track my Evo, I shouldnt own it? Well, my reasons for an Evo purchase dont have to match yours.

-Chirico

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and Im not sure about the former.

-Einstein

It depends on the officer I guess. For the most part they really do not care. Most officers have determined if you are getting a ticket long before they walk up and talk to you for the first time. I use the recorder to make sure I do not miss anything the officer says while talking to me. I like to have it for when I end up at trial.

Forget all this crap and spend the best 29 bucks of your life...

For speeding, this is all you need

No bullshit. I'm getting out of another speeding ticket next month. I almost welcome speeding tickets.

where I live, if your doing over 80mph in a 55mph and you reply with "Officer, i was traveling a reasonable and safe speed" you
ll probably get 2 tickets for being a wiseass. Your better off just keeping your mouth shut over here. Cops dont play

Re: What To Do When you get pulled over (can we sticky this please)

I just want to point out some things...

First time I ever got a ticket... going about 55 in a 35 zone, I pretended I did not know why I got pulled over, the cop got pissed, and gave me a ticket.

I then got pulled over (a long time after) going 75 in a 35 zone in my YELLOW MAZDASPEED PROTEGE. The officer asked me if I knew how fast I was going, I said not sure, but probably very fast....I guessed 55mph. He said try 75, told me to slow down and that he appreciated my honesty and let me off.

I got pulled over going 80mph in a 25 school zone at UCLA at 4am, (no pedestrians or other cars around, i'm not reckless), the cop asked me "why the hell were you driving so fast?" I answered "I don't know officer, I was just being stupid." After he agreed with me and did the usual checks, he let me off with a warning.

Got pulled over leaving Westwood. The officer asked me if I knew why I got pulled over, I honestly responded I have no idea. He told me I was speeding, 35 in a 30 zone at 4 in the fucking morning. The bastard wrote me a ticket 2 days before christmas.

A few weeks later got pulled over again on the freeway going 85mph, the officer asked me if i knew why, I said yes, I was speeding as I was handing him my license and registration. He commented how it seems like i really knew the drill, I told him about my last speeding ticket at a whopping 35mph in a 30 zone. He laughed and let me off saying I needed to learn to slow down.

Last but not least, after a night of heavy drinking on Sunset I was driving back with my car full of piss-drunk people. I made it back to Westwood and we were going to the local bar there to finish off the night. There is a twisty part on the road heading there, and I decided it would be a good idea to take these 20mph twists at 55 (speed limit was 30). As I was about to park I saw those oh so familiar lights in the back. Few things can scare you like being pulled over with 4 long islands in your system and a carful of people saying "oh shit" and "oh fuck I can't believe this." I almost shit my pants on the inside but kept cool.
Cop: Do you know why I pulled you over?
Me: Yes sir, I was speeding.
Cop: Do you know how fast you were going?
Me: Yes sir, I was going 55.
Cop: Do you know what the speed limit here is?
Me: Um 35?
Cop: Try 30.
Me: Oh aright.
Cop: Have you had anything to drink tonight?
Me: No sir, in fact we're on our way to O'hares right now, (the bar there)
Cop: Alright, slow down this isn't a track.

Lets just say we had a few more that night toasting to my almost DUI.

Dude, you may have admitted you were speeding, but you hardly ever told the truth from what you've written...

I lied about that because they weren't going to say "oh your honest so good luck driving drunk." What about rest of the times? And I didn't even get a good ole' speeding ticket while drunk because I told the truth about my speeding.

this is very good advice, now pulling it out and reading it during a stop is probably not the best advice and also proves you really dont know what your talking about. You couldnt read it all before he got to your car either.

Re: What To Do When you get pulled over (can we sticky this please)

I was pulled over on I-5 as I was heading to the 14 for Willow Springs back in Sept. As I was going Northbound I saw a sign that read ONLY, Next Exit to the left in 1/2 mile. This is my first time in Cali, I was stationed down here in Aug. and had not gotten used to the roads down here (back in WA there are no dbl yellow lines for car pool and there are no exits to the left). So being confused I merged out of the car pool lane so I wouldn't have to take the exit not knowing I-5 kept going straight. I pulled over to the side and rolled down both windows not knowing what side he would go to, took the keys out of the ignition and set them on the roof, and kept my hands on the wheel. The cop came up to the passenger window and asked for my credentials. I told him where they were and asked if I could get them. He gave me permission and said he would be right back. When he came back he asked if the address on the drivers license was my home of record (WA license and WA plates up to date), I told him yes and I had just moved down here. He then asked me if I wanted a car pool ticket or fix it ticket. I thought he was just messing with me and asked him what the fix it ticket was for. He said, "you don't have a front license plate". I said yes sir I do, it's front left side (stock Evo 9 plate location). He goes to the front of the car gives me a thumbs up and as he is passing by the window says good, now you don't have a choice. When he came back for the second time he handed me the ticket and then asked why I did it. After I gave him my reason he looked at my wife and said I blame her. She is the navigator in the passenger seat and she should have been paying attention to the sign then walked away. Needless to say, I was very nice to him and he wasn't so pleasant to myself NOR my family. This just goes to show that there are A** holes out there that think just because we drive a fast car we are always doing illegal things. I had my freaking family with me (pregnant wife and 3 year old son), and a friend in the back seat. I talked to a military layer and he said the chances of getting the case dismissed were slim to none so I just paid the $360 fine.

Watch this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqMjMPlXzdA

And just to clarify: BEING HONEST DOES *NOT* HELP YOU. But AGAIN, WE ARE NOT LAWYERS SO TAKE WHAT WE SAY WITH A GRAIN OF SALT AND WHAT YOU DO IS YOUR OWN PROBLEM.

The justice and law system is NOT based on honesty... Lawyers are specialists at lying.Â* Â*During your encounter you should NEVER give up any rights which the officer will try to get you to do and you should not VOLUNTEER any information.

Always be polite but remember you are a citizen with rights.

"Do you know why I pulled you over?"

"No officer." (doesn't matter if you know what he pulled you over for)

"You don't think you were going a little fast?"

"No" (never admit guilt)

"Is that a modified exhaust?"Â* (baiting question)

"Did I do something wrong officer?"Â* (try to clarify the situation)

It doesn't matter if you were or not, they are trying to get you to admit that you committed a crime.
