Youre not really supposed to cut and splice O2 wires it can affect the signal such as with an egt wire. If you are going to use it get the proper plug.

Is the signal affected by a potential shoddy connection, different wire types (if extending), or the length of the wires? (I'd think only the first two would cause any ill readings) As long as the integrity of the wires are maintained there should be an issue with splicing.

The only thing to worry about is noise from the ignition...and If I shield the spliced area right, it should be fine.
EDIT: oh and GROUND the new sheilding.

I think the soldering may have an affect but Im not 100% sure. Might ask Mike W for an exact answer. I know Ive seen issues on other car signals. A plug should be used anyway.

I'm gonna keep diggin for an answer...if one HAS to use a specific O2 sensor to match there car, why even sell a universal one?

This is not an answer, but I would get an OEM 02 sensor for your car.Originally Posted by Luscious
The money you save won't be more then 20 dollars (i'm guessing).
There are several poeple on the forum that work for dealerships or can get you good prices.
Jeff @ 500WHP has connections with dealerships.
Sam @ SRT Motorsports can get you pretty much anything you need except for my one of APR rear diffuser made of carbon fiber and laced with metalic GG weave.
Norco Mitsu gives a discount for DSM member that carries over to us.
RRE can answer your question with a quick phone call. Plus they most likely stock the item you need.
Hit up one of those guys.
I hope that helps (even if it doesn't answer your question).

well, I got my answer....the o2 sensor is a wideband unit. Alfred @ TT hooked me up for a good deal on a used one.

check this out!!! i got my exhaust set-up all done up a Fujitsubo Cat-back..a custom ceramic coated DP...and now a SRT Motorsport Test - Pipe...any ways...i got the Cat-back and DP on the evo...now i come across the CAT....and it goes all down hill from hereÂ* :'( i try to take out the o2 sensor and guess what the fuck happend next!!! the sensor doesnt budge and it fuckin strips!!!! so here are the steps i took...
1-- i jacked the car up after work..
2-- i let the whole car cool down for about a good 3 1/2 hrs..
3 -- went to autozone for the o2 sensor socket..(i used another ride to get there so the evo is still cooling down)
4-- came home...got my ratchet, went underneath, fitted the socket on the sensor (YES! it did lock), made sure the cat was cold and it was!!!, set the ratchet to *LEFT LOOSY* and i locked it up onto the socket then i got my leverage pipe!!! and turned........o and did it turn.....the sensor didn't move and i took of the socket and the edges were fucked!!!...
can anyone tell me what i did wrong?!?!?! and now how the hell am i gonna get this damn thing off???? im starting to get annoyed...anyone HELP!!!! PLEASE.....
o yea like JOOTZ added i tried WD-40...and still no!...and the o2 sensor is on the CAT so that write up on EVOMOTO didn't help...

NUT BUSTER?! damn...what about it being stripped??? how am i gonna get a good grip???
Heat it up.
I had a terrible time getting an O2 off of my Eclipse one time.Â* I hit it with everything I had and it didn't budge.Â* I finally gave up and drove down to the muffler shop.Â* They put it right on the lift, got a small wrench, got it out, and said "twenty bux."Â* Just the drive down heated it up enough to come out.
Since it's cool right now spray it down with PB Blaster.Â* It's some really stinky stuff that can't be good for our groud water, but it pentrates and works.
Go for a drive and heat up the exhaust.
Get under the car and clamp down on the O2 sensor with a vise-grip.
Unscrew it.Â* Use some kind of pipe for leverage if you have to.
Replace the sensor.
Heat it up.Â* It'll come out. O0
If it doesn't make power, it's not worth the hour.
this have been cover so many times before. get the right tools O0

Look under the passenger seat and you will see the plug for the sensor. Unplug it and feed it down the hole. Remove the cat with the sensor attached. Borrow a torch and heat the area and use a porn end 22 mm wrench and you will be set
