whatever pads i got from southcoast are loud as shit. I only had two options, Hawks or some other brand and i went with the "other" brand and there reeaaally noisy. Oh well ^^

I know some people with Hawk pads and they regret getting them. They are super loud, and squeaky, so either way if you would have gone with Hawk instead of other.... still noisy. As long as the pads aren't too low then you're good. Drilled and slotted rotors aren't that expensive, and they look bit

I just got new pads from Road Race and MAN, do they squeal, its embarrassing, hopefully they'll simmer down after a few days, the noise is ear splitting!

the squeaking occurs due to the four pistons pushing your brakes. more circular contact points. great braking power but loud noises. i have heard hawk brake pads reduce the noise and i heard great reviews from many people. however i bought them and applied plenty of grease and the squeaking is the same. the squeaking is normal for performance brakes but it just sucks that it draws so much attention, people looking at you like you need new brakes. i wonder if its due to having drilled and slotted rotors that i have exceptionally frequently loud brakes.

my rears are disgusting. i bought some "de squeek" from auto zone today. its a metalic spray that you spray on the rotors....20 miles no squeek. it was 10 bucks so had to try it. ive only sprayed one side because i was lazy to take the whole rotor off. but so far so good. I still have 70% of the can left so i hope itll be good for a while haha.
My brakes won't stop screaming!!!!!!! I've read this thread and some of the solutions to the brakes screaming. I recently purchased some Hawk HP Pads. They will only scream (sounds like a cat dying, high pitched) when under light/medium braking and after the brakes will warm up slightly from driving around the block. Also they will only scream when attempting to park, low speed. The brakes will not scream when they are under hard heavy braking. WTF? is going on. I've used De-Squeak from AutoZone, sand papered the pads and rotors. I believe the squeak is coming only from the front driver side rotor. HELP!!!!

Also the funny thing is that the original Brembo pads only squeaked slightly on cold days and at low speeds. barely noticeable

has anyone had problems with stoptech pads I recently got some. I bedded them in put disc brake quiet twice and they sound way too loud. I know evos are known for brake noise but they have never sounded like this before. When I had some axis pads that I got from dynamic autosports they would squeal every now and then. With these as soon as they heat up a little they squeal really loud at pretty much every stop. I have to downshift and brake really lightly to keep them from being SO damn loud. If anyone could help me with some good advice that would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.Â* O0
All you squeaky/squealing brake people... new or resurfaced rotors? Or you put them on used unresurfaced rotors?
The squeal you hear is the pads vibrating in the caliper. Many of the pads being mentioned are not traditionally loud pads. Putting new pads on a used rotor can set up a little vibration between the pad and rotor, that makes th epad move in the caliper and that makes the noise. It is just a metal on metal creak like an old door hinge.

So I tried bedding in the pads again and re-greasing them. I followed the write up on how to bed in break pads. I did this for like 30mins. It seems to have gotten rid of the squealing for now. I hope that next time I get in my car to drive it doesn't start up with the noise again.
I did a pad slap on a used unresurfaced rotor. Don't most manufactures try to discourage you from resurfacing rotors? That's what my high school auto teacher said. I didn't resurface mine because they didn't pulsate at all. They were in pretty good condition.
Yeah, you dont need to. Too many rotors get cut down that dont need it. But that is how you better guarantee that they wont make noise. As a shop if you just do a pad slap and then the customer comes back and bitches, you end up either eating the labor or having a grumpy customer. So the shop just pushes the resurface or replacement.

Alright so I guess bedding my pads in a third time really made a difference. The noise they were making is completely gone now.Still every now in the it does a little faint squeak nothing ridiculously loud though, just your normal brake squeal. But I would say they are completely quiet about 90% of the time so I am happy. O0
sorry this is so late, but i've heard a lot of brakes now days have "squeak indicators" that begin to squeak when they are almost out of brake pad...not positive if its true but my brakes never ever squeaked until about a week ago and now they squeak everywhere constantly so i did lots of research on google. just a thought.
