I went up to Azusa Canyon today and the Road was Closed. The gates were Chained up and lockedREASON: I don't know :-\ . So any Evo owners planning to go up there, should wait a couple days or weeks.

They often close it during holiday's when there's a high fire danger. Especially 4th of July.

azusa cyn road has been closed for decades.
its closed about a mile after the offroad area right? Or are you talking about it being closed before that. I know they just reopened a 3 mile stretch, but there is no accress to crystal lake. It has been like that for years.
about 4 miles north of the offroad area, yeah. since 1978 I believe. it's "supposed" to be reopened next year though, which will be nice as it connects with angeles crest hwy.
I thought he was talking about the gate up to GMR from Azusa canyon side. I once saw two bicyclists close and lock that gate.
LOLS! I ment the Road Before/below GMR, the road to get to the TOP where every one hangs out at WAS closed the day before 4th of july, which was the day that I went. I know thatt GMR has been closed for years thats why... I didnt say GMR..... I think they closed it becuase of the Holiday, but I think its open again now. My Friend took a picture of the sign saying "Road Closed" . Ill try to get it from him O0
lol it hasnt been closed since 1978.. lol.. about 4 years ago i took that road all the way through to angeles crest in my rx7.. it was a scary ride because a few parts only had a one lane deal goin with no gaurd rail.. but.. it was fun.. :)Originally Posted by apexstrafer

azusa cyn rd (hwy 39) has been closed for many years.
are you sure you're not talking about some other road from the north? upper big tujunga? angeles forest hwy?
anyway....it sounds like the OP was talking about either east fork rd or the northern segment of GMR (thread title is misleading).
