Hey Guys,
I drove to Luxemburg about 1.5 hours north to check out the Luxemburg International Auto Show.* Not really a show to showcase new cars but show some imports, euros, rally, and F1 cars.* Very different from your typical auto show but I really like it.*
Race cars: lots of them on display, some even for sale.* Here is a Carrera GT:
Le Mans era 1970 917 Porsche:
More Porsches:
Rare Carrera RS
A4 Track car (check out the huge rear diffuser)
Jaguar Type S Track car
Beetle track car
BMW track car (3 series)
Renault F1 (I think its a demo since it has Fisi's and Kovalainen's name on the cockpit but the carbon fiber was real)
Total LMP (Le Mans Prototype), Marc Gene and Jacques Villaneuve, Drivers
Renault Megane Track car
Another Megane
Loved this Arden Range Rover.* Arden is a German tuner/parts supplier for Jaguar and Ranger Rover:
These Arden Wheels are pimp:
Okay, this is where things got really exciting (at least for me they did).* These are cars that are Euro only.* For example loved this Volvo in show condition (check out the Swedish headlights):
Really like the color scheme of this classic Ford Escort:
Speaking of Ford, check out this classic Ford GT 40
And this modern Ford GT coverted for the track:
Europe is all about the WRC so can't forget about Sebastien Loeb's Citroen:
Speaking of rallycar, here is a 350Z(!)
AC Schnitzer M3:
AC Schnitzer certainly means business (I have a similar track logo on my car)
Some interesting cars I wasn't able to ID:
This is a Fiat I think.
This is a Porsche Speedster if I'm not mistaken.
Very nice MB 190 SL:
There were some very cool show cars
Civic Type R in a flawless lemon paint job
Citroen, very tastefully done
I liked this RX-8
Okay, this is where it gets ugly.* For those who don't know, the EU has very strict emissions and they penalize any engine modifications when your car gets inspected.* The inspection, especially here in Germany (TÜV), is very rigorous.* That being said, most car guys simply modify the interior and exterior to their hearts content.* However, the results can be very comical.* Here are a few examples.
Check the American Indian motif on this car.* Tacky (no offense to any American Indians out there).
This guys hood is covered in velvet!
More ugly (my friend Sergio is in the pic).
Hot pink
Notice the wheel selections on most of these cars are simply ugly...you know, those Lorinsers or Giovanni's that have zero appeal.*
This was by far the ugliest car (velvet car comes in a close second).* Lambo doors, ugly wheels, and the most hideous paintjob:
I didn't have to end this post on a downer with those ugly cars so I thought i would show you these Hungarian honeys in the Toyota F1 booth (guess who's the lucky guy):
By far the best car show and the most interesting one I have ever visited.* I even got Motul mints in the Motul booth. I hope you guys like the cars and can appreciate some of the beautiful cars.* *
