Here at Tuning Technologies we combine the latest technological innovations and equipment to tune your Lancer Evolution VII, VIII and IX. We have an in house state of the art 424x Dynojet all-wheel-drive dynamometer and the tuning experience of over 1000 EVO's behind us.

There are multiple tuning platforms for this vehicle and we can properly tune just about any one of them. Here is a list of some of the platforms we utilize.

EcuFlash- By far the most popular and effective tuning tool for the EVO’s stock ECM. Perfect for street and light to medium racing applications.

MOTEC CAN- Full racing computer. Many shops will say they tune this system but are lying. Here is our proof.



For piggybacks such as the XEDE, UTEC or SAFCII, we can tune them but they are only a viable solution if the increase in horsepower stays under 15%. Beyond that a more sophisticated tuning solution will be necessary.
Note: We will not use narrowband oxygen sensor signals to tune the AFR. This is done by wideband only.

What is included in your tune?

The most important part of successful engine tuning is data acquisition and knowing how to interpret the data gathered. Our strong grasp on engine theory coupled with thousands of hours of tuning experience is what makes us one of the best in the industry. Here is an example of a data log.



We take a close look at your EVO’s current modification level (ie. Exhaust, Fuel pump, upgraded camshafts, upgraded turbo’s etc…) and create a basemap which will allow us to safely baseline the car and check all systems for functionality. Rest assured that the OEM safety measures are still in tact and fully functional in the event you need them.

1. The vehicle will go on the dynamometer so we can tune the car in a controlled, repeatable and most importantly SAFE environment. We get many requests to road tune but it’s just not safe for you, the car, other drivers on the road, or us. There are just too many variables to monitor on the street aside from the cars performance.

The dynamometer is an incredible tuning tool. There is nothing like being able to compare the data acquisition logs to the actual engine output recorded by the dyno. Many times you will find information on the dyno graph that will NEVER show up on data log. This is where our expertise of tuning over 1000 EVO’s in-house comes into play.

We must be able to create a clear picture of the conditions under which the engine is operating. We use EvoScan to record all important engine parameters and monitor changes we make to the ECM. We also have the ability to record or create nearly any standard or custom parameter in the ECM as necessary (ie..2 byte load, air temps, ignition timing etc..)


3. We must be able to measure the AFR (air fuel ratio) along with a host of other vital signals. We use a wideband AFR meter which directly connects to the dynamometer computer and records this info in tandem with engine output. Our Bosch sensors are replaced on a regular basis to ensure the accuracy of the AFR readings. We also use separate sensors for unleaded and leaded fuels. Here is a sample AFR plot.



4. Boost levels are also recorded directly into the dynamometer which allows us to measure boost taper and minimize the effect. We use a verified accurate and calibrated 3.5 Bar Manifold Pressure (MAP) Sensor to do this. This sensor measures up to 35psi and is the same one we use on our race cars with great success. 5. Once the tune is completed you will receive color printouts of the final results of your custom tune. You will get Horsepower, Torque, Boost and AFR plots.

6. If the customer wishes, we will gladly teach them how to flash a new mapping into their ECM with EcuFlash. All that is needed is a modern USB equipped laptop and a Tactrix flashing cable which is available for sale here at TTech. We will provide all necessary software then install and configure the software for you on your laptop. Once this is done we will do some trial test flashing with you at our side to ensure you are comfortable with the procedures.

Frequently asked tuning questions.

1. What types of boost control tuning is available from us?

We have tuned almost every type or form of boost control on the market. We can do Electronic Boost controllers such as the Greddy Profec and ProfecB SpecII, Apexi AVC-R (rpm vs. duty cycle vs. target boost tunable), Blitz Spec S and Spec R and the HKS EVC series.

We also do OEM ECM based boost control which gives 16 points of rpm based adjustment. That means that we can adjust boost at individual RPM breakpoints to optimize the boost curve. There are a couple of ways you can go about doing this. One, we use the stock wastegate solenoid in combination with a upgraded pill assembly. This allows us to bleed more boost away from the wastegate thus achieving a higher desired boost at “X” rpm. Second, we can opt to not use the factory boost solenoid and upgrade to the GM 3-port solenoid. This unit requires no pills, only some light soldering and hose rerouting. Both methods will net the same results but the GM unit will control the boost slightly better and respond quicker.

If you would like we can also use any manual boost controller such as the Dejontool, Hallman Pro, Greddy etc…….These units are a ball and spring type or a bleeder type and if done right can work well.

2. What kind of gas should I use?

We recommend using 76 brand gasolines from the larger stations.

3. What should I do to prepare my car for a tune?

Make sure the car has no boost leaks. The power that the engine will make is directly connected to how well the boost system is working. If there are leaks or inconsistencies, expect to see them reflected in your dyno graphs. We can perform this service for you or tell you how you can do it at home. Either way this is essential, especially if you have a 2004 or earlier EVO.

Make sure your exhaust system is completely sealed. This will ensure an accurate AFR reading.

4. Do you do racegas tuning?

Yes we do. We have tuned some of the fastest Track and Drag EVO’s on this coast. You can either bring your own gas or purchase it from our in house stock. We will make you a dedicated racegas mapping aside from your pump gas street map.


5. Is my information confidential?

Yes we are 100% confidential. We have tuned high profile street and race vehicles where secrecy was a priority. Rest assured that your modifications and vehicles power output will not be shared with anyone at any time without your expressed consent..
