Tuning Technologies Map Switching Information and dyno graphs

We wanted to let everyone formally know that we have been doing Map Switching on the Evo for some time now.Â* Below is a typical example of a Tuning Technologies EVO IX running a basic Stage TT1 with the addition of a Aquamist HFS-1 Methanol/Water injection system.Â* We use the TEPHRA modified roms and a custom map switching harness to achieve the power and safety results you will see below.

With everything installed properly, we tune the car for a full pump gas mapping. At this time the Aquamist kit is simply turned off by depressing the button on the gauge.Â*

Once the pump gas mapping is done in its entirety, we simply turn the Aquamist kit on by pushing the button on the gauge and proceed with mapping the alternate fuel, boost and ignition tables to accommodate the cooler, high octane Methanol fuel being injected.Â*

The beautiful thing about this setup is that the entire package is incredibly easy to use and reliable.Â* The HFS-1 utilizes a digital hall effect flow sensor to monitor the actual flow of methanol being injected into the engine. In the event of a low flow or overflow condition, the system detects a fault and immediately (less than 400ms) switches the mapping of the ecu back to pump gas fueling, ignition and boost levels! This all happens with no input from the end user, its fully automated!

With a proper setup like the basic one below, you can achieve respectable power levels and unmatched safety from your Methanol powered Evo.

    2006 EVO IX

    Mods:

HKS Drop-in filter utilizing stock airbox and intake pipe
Tuning Technologies 3" Turboback exhaust with 18" resonator and Race Cat
GM 3 port boost solenoid with custom sized resistor
    Walbro 255lph Fuel pump
Aquamist HFS-1 system with custom nozzle setup

    Everything else 100% bone stock

At the touch of a button the user can safely gain 45+whp in powerband.

Power from Methanol can be fun and reliable but only if you have the failsafes to protect your investment.Â* With tuning technologies and Aquamist you cant go wrong!Â*

Remember that we can do map switching for multiple types of fuel combinations like:

    Map 1Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â*Map 2

    Pump gasÂ* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Methanol
    Pump gasÂ* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* E-85
    Pump gasÂ* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Race gas
Race gas low elevationÂ* Â* Â* Â* Â* Race gas high elevation

We were the first ones to show Southern California the true benefits and reliability of Methanol injection on the Lancer Evolution. Having installed and tuned more Methanol injection kits than any other shop around, we know what it takes to get the job done right and make serious reliable power.

Here's one last graph on a more built setup so you get an idea of the potential. This car ran Methanol injection under this amount of power for well over a year with ZERO issues.

    Mods:

    GT35R
    All basic boltons
    Stock 2.0 bottom end
    28psi

Tuning technologies can tailor the setup to your needs, just let us know what you have.

It is about time you posted up your exploits, you've been doing this for a long time. This is great stuff and another big reason that Tuning Technologies is the foremost Evo tuning shop in the west.

That same evo ran a 12.2 at fontanaÂ* O0

    *EDIT*

The graph posted is Ron's (slorice) car. I got mixed up with another evo 9 that ran a 12.2 with similar mods (no cams).

I've been seriously thinking about going this route just so I can get more power and not have to add cams and injectors and stuff and stop modding there, at least for a while anyway...Â*

Alfred, can you please send me a quote for this setup, installation and tune?

Re: Tuning Technologies Map Switching Information and dyno graphs

Wow! Yeah that was my graph and I am very pleased with this set-up. Crackpipe, Drop-in filter and Crack-injection/fuel pump and u have a low 12 sec Evo at about 110-112 mph with an average overweight fatazz driving. My VIII with cams/exhaust/drop-in/ pump/xede/Shiv-ladden tuned and 100 octane ran 12.2-12.5s-- 110-111 mph with 345 whp and less tq on the 9.8 hotside turbo. With the right Jockey(not me or Oscar) 12 flat possible.
I live my life one quarter pounder at a time! And for that 11 secs or less it takes me to devour one I am free.
