    KLANK KLANK CRUD...PAKING SHET !!! RRE to the rescue!

    While doing a base pull on my previous tune, the car made a weird noise that came from the engine compartment. I immediately cringed with the thought of possibly loosing/blowing another motor. The noise was so strange that it drew Mike W from his office & Honda Robert came rushing in the dyno area from the other side of the garage bay...Scott had a very serious look on his face as my heartbeat raced a millionÂ* MPH!!! PAKING SHET!!!

    The tres amigos were assessing what possible damage could have been made and no one wanted to crank the motor to figure out what went wrong. The plugs were pulled out & they all seem to have a rich carbon deposits on them.Â* Robert brought out the "ENDOSCOPY SCOPE" to peek inside the engine. #1-3 cylinder looked OK but #4 had a round imprint which appears to be caused from hitting the head...OH SHET!!! But since I'm on the stock motor again, Robert says that the stock unit has a circle imprint on OEM.

    No one wanted to lift the valve cover to see what damages took place inside the engine. I told them, PAK IT,Â* I'll remove the valve cover. But thanks to Honda Robert & Mike W's expertise, they said to hold off and to do a compression check with the igniters. All four projected out with strong compression...So far, the motor is still healthy but still made the horrible noise.

    We chatted amonsgt ourselves and the possibility of a damaged balance shaft maybe a reality. PAK PAK PAK!!! There was only one thing left to do to rule out the problem...remove the timing belt/cam gear cover. Guess what we found?

    A. Timing belt frayed, snapped
    B. Teeth on the gears were missing
    C. A bolt made its way in the cover
    D. Missing cam gears
    E. Loose cam gear


    The gulity culprit was a loose cam gear that was ready to fall off. The nuts from the cam gears were so loose it wobbled inside and grinded up against the inner portion of the cover.... A big sigh of relief from everyone...

    No wonder the motor was misfiring for the passed few days...timing was so off that it was running @ 20*

    I WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT THEESE THREE GENTLEMEN ARE TOP NOTCH CLASS ACTS!!!

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH MIKE W. HONDA ROBERT & SCOTT GREY FOR TAKING GOOD CARE OF ME!!!

    The Dr. Grey worked his magic with the "GANGSTA TUNE" and the car feels great again!!!

    The tuning session was for E-85 to 91 map switching, aswell as C-16 to 91 map switching via intercooler spray switch.

    Thanks again gentlemen for an excellent sevice at RRE!

    (My last tune was from July of last year and the bolts may have come loose from the engine vibration...no one is being blamed for the mishap O0)

    Yikes. Glad it ended up being not too serious/damaging to the car.

    How does the c16/91 and E85/91 work and RRE FTW

    in terms of HP #'s, they are about the same. if you are reffering to switching from E-85 to 91 or C-16to 91, Scott did his magic with a flip of switch instead of loading a different map.

    I know I have the map switch for E85/91 but u use the E85 map to run C16 also

    I would have to load the C-16 to 91 via tactrix. But I guess you can have map switching from C-16 to E-85 as well via switch...depending on your primary fuel choice.

    they're always dependable. their years of experience and expertise with the 4G63 motor says a lot about their work. glad to hear that your car's engine is back to its tip-top shape again jello.
