Learning Stick shift on an evo 8/9

Hey guys I am currently in the market for a lancer evo 8/9. I have posted other topics about my transition from a bmw to a lancer evo. I have never drove stick shift before but I am sure i can learn quickly. I was wondering is it easy to learn stick shift on an evo 8/9?

And if you don't wanna learn stick in another car, then just have extra money for that tranny. :)

Do it. There's absolutely nothing different or more difficult about driving/learning stick with an Evo. It's literally like any other 4 banger with a manual trans, just don't launch it (ever) and respect the learning process and your limitations until you get the hang of it and you're set.

just learn on the evo. the only difference would be if the evo has an aftermarket clutch in there. it will be heavier. i bought my evo from scm NOT knowing how to drive stick. They even had one of the sales guys drive it all the way to my house. withing 3 days i had it down and i was enjoying my evo. but the only little problem i had was that i got used to my clutch and when i would drive a friends car. i would stall it or burn the clutch because i was so used to my heavy ass clutch lol. but now im good. nothing broke down or anything.

either way. good luck and take your time. dont be eager to get it right.

edit: forgot to mention, when i had the plan to buy an evo, i spent numerous hours on youtube learning what to do to drive stick. i would even sit in a charge. get a water bottle or something and i would pretend i was driving stick lol.

As people have stated above, get a feel for it and know your limitations. Once you get the hang out it, enjoy!

yup, lol they followed in a van so they could take the guy back. it was me in my mirage, my evo in back of me, and the mitsu van behind my evo lol. i felt like that was the best day of my life haha. i couldn't stop looking in the rear view mirror. i kept telling myself, "thats MY EVO" lol it felt awesome bringing my dream car home lol
